Yu Darvish is visiting Arlington By Richard Durrett Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish is in Arlington to with his father to take a look at the area and get a better sense of the Rangers organization. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed Darvish was in town following reports of that fact in the Japanese media on Tuesday. But that does not mean an agreement is imminent. Darvish likely wants to take a look around and then let his agents, Arn Tellem and Don Nomura, meet in more detail with the Rangers with a few weeks left before the deadline. Daniels did not want to discuss Darvish's schedule while he's here or anything in regards to negotiations. The Rangers released a statement saying Darvish felt it was appropriate to make his first visit to Texas. Darvish and the Rangers are currently in the middle of a 30-day exclusive negotiating window thanks to the Rangers’ winning posting bid of close to $52 million back in December. The two sides have until 4 p.m. central time on Jan. 18 to agree on a contract. If no agreement is reached, the Rangers won’t pay the posting fee to Darvish ’s Japanese team, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. A report out of Japan says Darvish plans on starting his workouts in preparation for spring training later this week.
