AUBURN HILLS -- After the Pistons "held" the Milwaukee Bucks to 105 points and
52 percent shooting Friday night, Chauncey Billups was told that their next
opponent, Phoenix, had scored 140 the same night.

One thing it's not, at least in Billups' mind, is a showdown between two of the
leading candidates for the league MVP -- himself and Nash.

It's a valid point. The MVP award is supposed to represent more than just the
most productive offensive player. Yet, the achievements of individual stars
such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki often overshadow the
team-based accomplishments provided by Nash and Billups.

The Suns have managed to post an impressive 49-23 record, despite playing most
of the season without All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire , who had
micro-fracture surgery on his left knee Oct. 11.

team, play even smaller. They start 6-foot-8 Boris Diaw at center, 6-7 Shawn
Marion at power forward and James Jones at small forward -- with 6-10 Tim
Thomas subbing at either forward spot.

But last week, after losing by 38 at New Jersey and 22 at Milwaukee, giving up
242 points combined in those games, Raja Bell and a couple of other players
criticized coach Mike D'Antoni 's defensive schemes. The next day, before the
team allowed 126 points to the Raptors, D'Antoni shot back.

assists in a 106-89 victory against Albuquerque. Former Pistons draft pick
Andreas Glyniadakis , who plays for Albuquerque, went scoreless in 29 minutes.
