- in reference to what one should say to a mathematician trying to learn
general relativity.
"That'll probably be less painful than reading Wald."
- as a response to the quote directly above.
"No no no; it's a simple matter of cohomology"
- one physicist to another after a talk
"I'll make a tensor out of you."
- whispered by a grad student at the board trying to explain how to convert
the levi-civita tensor density into a tensor.
"It's some curve-fitting bullshit"
- in reference to using thermodynamics to model economics.
"Is canonical momentum momentum that is fired out of a cannon?"
- a grad student at one of my review sessions for a mechanics final
