Every campaign needs its defining moment.
For John F. Kennedy's presidential election, it was his televised debate
against Richard Nixon. For Doug Flutie's Heisman Trophy selection, it was his
Hail Mary pass against Miami.

For Grant Hill to get his first All-Defensive Team honor from the coaches in
a 17-year career, his campaign moment might have come Sunday night with what
he did to the NBA's leading scorer in Oklahoma City.

The Suns lost in overtime to the Thunder but not because of Kevin Durant, who
had his worst shooting game (21.4 percent, 3 of 14 from the field) in 136
games. Durant did not make a shot until there was 1:48 remaining in the first
half and missed a potential game winner at the end of his scoreless fourth
quarter. With the score tied and 9.2 seconds to go, Hill played Durant over
the top, fought through a Serge Ibaka screen, met Durant at his catch 30 feet
from the basket and got him to take a 22-foot fadeaway.

Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said Hill made Durant "uncomfortable" on
that play. That is no isolated incident. Hill makes every opposing star
scorer as uncomfortable as if they were at dinner with the in-laws.

Deron Williams has shot 32 percent in four games - three for Utah and one for
New Jersey - against the Suns with Hill taking the brunt of the assignment.
Golden State's Monta Ellis faced Hill and the Suns twice in a five-game
stretch, going 9 for 30 from the field for a 14.5 points-per-game average. In
the other three games of that stretch - against defense-oriented guards Thabo
Sefolosha, Arron Afflalo and Keith Bogans - Ellis went 40 for 77, scoring
34.3 points per game.

At 38, Hill's "Benjamin Button" act has made him a better defender than he
ever was in his 20s, when he saved himself on defense to be the top scorer
and playmaker on offense.

Now, Hill is that type of player's nightmare, using his guile, desire, pride
and effort as well as his length, athleticism and lateral speed.

An All-Defensive Team distinction has much to do with reputation, but
statistics can counter assumptions. For example, Hill has taken more than 40
charges this season; 10-time All-Defensive Team member Kevin Garnett of
Boston has not taken one.
當然想要獲選防守隊伍，多少必須靠點以往的名譽， (才能多拿些印象分數票。)
不過數據也是會說話的。
這季Hill做了四十多個進攻犯規，
而10次入選防守隊伍的Garnett，一個進攻犯規也沒做。
"No one out there asks a guy to do more," Gentry said of Hill.

Hill's defense is a mix of denying touches and complicating shots.

"Getting hurt forced me to watch people and learn and try to figure guys'
games out," said Hill, who missed 292 games to injury over a six-year stretch
in Orlando. "I had to do that when I was coming back from injury and I wasn't
totally right. Now with being healthy and having the confidence in my body,
I'm able to analyze guys, trust my body to move and slide and do those types
of things. I'm better defensively than when I was younger. I feel better than
when I was in Orlando, a credit to the training staff here. I trust my body."

The Suns were deplorable defensively for most of the season, making it appear
grim that coaches would recognize Hill's work. A team defense turnaround
since late January has rejuvenated that chance, along with the respect
coaches hold for him.

Hill would be Phoenix's first All-Defensive honoree since Raja Bell in 2008
and the first frontcourt Suns player to be picked since Cliff Robinson in
2000.

Guard Aaron Brooks makes his home debut Tuesday night against the Houston
Rockets, who traded him to the Suns for Goran Dragic.

"So if me and Dragic come in at the same time, I'm sure there will be a lot

"It will be good to see the fans and get some people to cheer for (me). I'm
used to getting booed here, so it will be a good experience. I do remember

Brooks has had only a couple of limited practices with the team but said he's
comfortable with the offense.

"It suits the way I play," he said. "Everybody's been real good. The guys
have been great at helping me out. This is a great group of guys. Not that
Houston's guys aren't great, too. But this is a great group, no egos."
