Itron’s Owenton KY (Gas Division), located between Cincinnati, Louisville and Lexington (www.northcentralky.com) is seeking an entry-level Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineer. This position is for someone who enjoys being part of a great team and thrives on the challenges of maintaining ownership of production lines while developing new manufacturing equipment, processes and control systems. The individual in this position will be responsible for developing the facility into an automated / one-piece flow manufacturing center, leading large projects, and developing the manufacturing engineering staff. Job responsibilities - Responsible for Owenton’s in-house machining equipment / process / machine selection. - Develop and secure tooling fixtures & jigs. - Looks for cost reduction opportunities, and justifies capital expenses. - Troubleshoots production critical issues. - Leads the development of new manufacturing equipment, processes, and controls. - Performs statistical analysis studies on manufacturing processes. Identifies weakness, and improves. - Will design, build, & implement improvements on workflow ideas, fixture designs, and quality improvements. - Works with complex mechanical products / natural gas regulation. Required skills - CNC Machining Experience - Material Removal Equipment Experience - Conversational / G-Code Programming Experience - Machining experience. - Performing Time Studies. - Setting Routing / Work Flow Standards. - Line Balancing - Statistical experience, process controls, etc - Machine Development & Implementation - Jig & Fixture designing - Critical Thinking - Experience in assembly workstations - Auto Cad software experience Preferred skills - Mini-Tab software experience. - Working Knowledge of PLC Systems, Lab view, Visual Basic, Programming Software’s. - Experience in mechanical assembly. Experience: This position requires at least 1-3 years of experience working in a high volume manufacturing facility, developing equipment, processes and workflow. Automotive or full manufacturing assembly automation experience preferred. A combination of Co-Op, internship and work experience can be considered. Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering OR related field is required. Certification(s): Travel: 1 - 10% CB1 Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium sized components. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift weight or exert force up to 50 pounds. The employee in this position works in an environment where they may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, there is a risk of electrical shock, and there is vibration.
