The story lines were often disjointed and there were characters roaming in and out of the scenes with no clear connection to the plot. It was cute and I did chuckle often. I definitely picked up on the animosities between Taiwan and Japan in how the Japanese characters were negatively portrayed. Hard to take this film seriously overall. 給三顆星對這部電影來說太多了，雖然結尾的歌很好，故事線常不連貫，而且常有角色大吼大叫卻和劇情沒什麼明顯關係，這部片很有趣我也笑了很多次，我很明顯的看出台灣與日本間的仇恨，在片中日本角色都被負面表現。整體來說，很難認真看待此電影。 (plamc:應該請那些覺得皇民化的中國影評來看看這則XD) Rated 5.0/5 Stars ckuehara 4:22 AM I found the first half of this film a little confusing, the way it skipped around, but that may be due to the fact that I don't read subtitles very fast. However, I thought the second half of this movie was outstanding. It was a very funny, feel good story. 我覺得這部片的前半段有點讓人困惑──它跳躍式的表現方式，不過這可能是因為我看字幕的速度不快的事實所造成的。不論如何，我想這部片的後半段相當傑出，它是個很有趣、讓人感覺很好的故事。 Rated 5.0/5 Stars aloha.yao 5:07 PM First of all, I am bias to this film because I gave up Taiwanese movie a long time ago. I just can't understand ALL of them, but this film change my mind BIG time. There are over 100 films this years. and I think this is one of the best, if not the best over all (I only screen 10 or so).. The story is simple and very touching for Taiwanese, but most people outside Taiwan doesn't understand Taiwan's history/relationships with Japan, and it can be confusing. However, the other parts are very touching with islander's life let it be Taiwan or Hawaii. I think the reason why I like this film is because I can relate to the story. Good Film and congratulations for winning the prize. 首先，我對這部片是有偏見的，因為我很久以前就放棄了所有台灣電影，我就是一部都看不懂，但是這部片大大的改變了我的想法。今年有超過100部片參展，而我認為這部片要不是其中最好的一部，也會是其中最棒的影片之一(我只負責看其中約10片)，故事簡單且對台灣人來說很感人，不過大多數台灣以外的人並不了解台灣與日本的歷史關聯，這會讓人困惑，不過，其他部分則非常動人，描述海島生活，不管是台灣還是夏威夷都相同的。我想我喜歡這部片的理由是因為我能與故事產生共鳴，很好的影片，也恭喜得到首獎。 Rated 5.0/5 Stars WHEEG 12:32 PM Excellent and touching film with a wonderfully talented cast and a powerful storyline presented with simplisty, romance, humor and strength. LOVED this film, the best thus far, quite possible the BEST at the film festival! The scenery and ocean shots showcased the similarities between their island community and ours. Everything about this movie was beautiful, entertaining and captivating. I am absolutely a new fan of Wei Te-Sheng 絕佳且感人的電影，有很棒的有天份的演員們，強而有力故事線表現出簡潔、浪漫、幽默，以及力量。我超愛這部電影，到目前為止它是最好的，它也很可能是本次電影節之中最佳的一部! 所拍攝出的風景與海洋顯示出他們的島與我們的島的相近之處，電影中的所有事物都既美麗，又有趣，令人著迷，我已經成為魏德聖導演的新粉絲了。 Rated 5.0/5 Stars Hawaii Sunset 3:49 AM I liked this movie.
