Dwight Howard has alienated everybody

Dwight Howard has alienated everybody he ever knew in Orlando
He owes entire city an apology
Congratulations, Dwight Howard.
You have now done the impossible.
You have pretty much alienated everybody you ever knew in Orlando.
The fans who once poured their hearts, souls and disposable income into you
are irate because you lied to them about your "love" and "loyalty" to the
city.
Dwight
The kids who once idolized you can't stand you because you stiffed them by
blowing off your own youth basketball camp before bailing out and
high-tailing it to the West Coast.
Your former coach Stan Van Gundy and former general manager Otis Smith -- two
decent men who had your back at every turn – are surely disappointed in the
way you threw them under the bus and cost them their seven-figure jobs.
And, sadly and pathetically, you've even lost the respect of your former
Magic teammates – a bunch of good guys who you once called your "family" but
now have denigrated and minimized into a "a team full of people nobody
wanted."
GM Otis & Manager SVG.
"I always tell people, 'Hey, my team in Orlando was a team full of people who
nobody wanted, and I was the leader and I led that team with a smile on my
face," Howard said in an interview earlier this week with an L.A. television
reporter.
Is anybody shocked that Dwight, who in recent years has surrounded himself
with an army of bootlickers and brownnosers, believes the world revolves
around him and only him? Is anybody surprised that Dwight is convinced that
nobody else except his three favorite people -- me, myself and I -- had
anything to do with the success of the Magic during his eight years with the
franchise?
對DH來說,這對象除了三個人以外:me, myself and I.
His former teammates certainly aren't.
"At some point, when are you [Dwight], as a man, going to take ownership and
stay out of the media in a professional manner?" Howard's former best friend,
Magic point guard Jameer Nelson said when asked about Howard's demeaning
comments.
"It's disrespectful," former Magic player Rashard Lewis said of Dwight's
comments. "We helped Dwight become the player he was. We made a good run.
Hell, look at those (conference and division) banners hanging in the stands.
They don't say Dwight Howard on them..."
Former Magic player J.J. Redick probably put it best in an interview with
ESPN: "I'm not surprised by it. ... I would be more surprised when Dwight
starts taking responsibility. … You can't take all the credit and not accept
any of the blame."
You can if you're Dwight, the arrogant, egotistical brat who has never once
apologized or held himself accountable for the deplorable, duplicitous way he
left Orlando. You know he must be a petty, back-stabbing boor when classy,
mild-mannered players like Nelson, Redick and Lewis are taking shots at him
from locker rooms all over the country.
Howard, as you might expect, refuses to take any of the blame for his
demeaning words and is frenetically flip-flopping as he has done so many
times before. He's even resorted to his favorite excuse – blaming the media
for "twisting and turning" his words and blowing the whole thing "out of
proportion."
Sort of reminds me of the day Dwight tried to blame the media for making up
the story that he tried to get Van Gundy fired. Remember how he looked like
the biggest dope in America as he stood there dumbfounded – like the emperor
with no clothes -- as the media told him Van Gundy himself had confirmed the
story?
"My statement was just to say that our team that I played with in Orlando, we
were the underdogs," Howard said as he tried to lie, cry and deny his way out
of this latest self-induced PR Dwightmare. "Nobody really talked about our
team. It was underrated. Everybody overlooked us for the whole time I was
there in Orlando and I hated that. We all hated that. We thrived off that. My
comments were never to say anything disrespectful … or downgrade any of
those guys.
"I would always tell them I wouldn't trade them for the world. That's how I
viewed it. For the most part, those guys know that. They know who I am and
they probably just heard something and people twisted it and turned it in
different ways. I'm not that kind of guy. I would never disrespect those
guys. It just kind of got blown out of proportion."
Do you notice anything missing from Dwight's extensive explanation of his
"team full of people who nobody wanted" comments?
Never once does he take responsibility for what he said.
Never once does he say, "I made a mistake" by choosing the wrong words.
Never once does he apologize for what he said.
Never once.
Dwight Howard owes everybody in this city an apology.
The fans, the kids, Van Gundy, Otis Smith and a Magic organization that did
everything it could to make him happy.
Mostly, though, he owes his former teammates an apology.
To elaborate on Jameer's eloquent assessment of his former best friend:
When are you, Dwight, as a man, going to stand up and take ownership of all
the harm you've done and all the people you've hurt?
Dwight Howard
