Beady Eye Refuse To Cover Oasis Without Noel
With Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye still in their early days, you
might think their live set list would be padded out with a few covers from a
certain Manchester bit-pop band.
But the band recently stifled any hope of fans seeing Oasis tracks performed
live.
Speaking to the Daily Record, guitarist Andy Bell said "It just doesn't seem
right to play those songs without Noel there. He wrote most of those classic
tunes. That's what Oasis was."
Second guitarist Gem Archer pitched in, saying "It's not like we're just
topping up a set we've been playing for 10 years. We're playing everything
we've got more or less."
Oasis fans shouldn’t give up on seeing their favourite tracks in concert
just yet. Last week Liam backtracked on previous comments saying Oasis would
never reform, with a sly "never say never" comment.
"But it wouldn't be for money, mate. I like to think that if we did get back
together - which we f-cking won't - but if we did then it would be for the
fans. It would be for the people and the music and not for f-cking money."
The band offered a free CD/DVD over the weekend to News of the World readers
in the UK which included 3 tracks from Beady Eye's debut album, two B-sides
and a video interview with the full band. Their debut album "Different Gear,
Still Speeding" has been well received, reaching number 1 in Japan but being
beaten to the top spot in the UK by Adele and Jessie J.
