Houston to Nets? Rod Thorn says no way

The odds that Allan Houston returns to the NBA at some point this season
might be good, but the chances that the former Knick guard will do so in a
Nets uniform aren't.
"I don't think so," Nets president Rod Thorn said yesterday. "We've got
two-guards, wing players. So I think we're pretty set there."
Houston told the Daily News earlier this summer of his intention to attempt a
comeback after retiring nearly two years ago because of arthritis in his left
knee. On Wednesday night, Houston's agent, Bill Strickland, told ESPN Radio
that his 36-year-old client is now "90 to 95%" certain that he will return to
the league and that he will hold a private workout for "several" teams on
Tuesday.
Although Strickland did not say which teams are interested in signing
Houston, there has been speculation that the Nets are one of them. Not so,
said Thorn.
While calling Houston a "great guy" and a "very, very good player," Thorn
also said he doesn't think Houston would fit into the mix with the Nets, who
already have a backcourt of Jason Kidd and Vince Carter. The Nets also have a
reliable shooter on their bench in Bostjan Nachbar and signed guard Robert
Hite to a partially guaranteed contract a few weeks ago. There's also the
issue of having to find a way to get the ball to Richard Jefferson more.
"I just don't see it here," Thorn said of the possibility of Houston signing
with his team.
When reached by phone yesterday, Houston declined to comment on the
situation. However, a person close to Houston said he'd prefer to play for a
contender, which likely rules out the Knicks, who already have 15 players
under contract anyway. The same source said it could be well into winter
before Houston signs with a team.
According to a league source, the Heat and the Cavaliers have shown the most
interest in Houston. While Houston played with Kidd and Carter during the
2000 Olympics, he's also close to Miami center Shaquille O'Neal. The two have
a relationship that dates back to when they were both high school seniors and
took official visits to Louisville at the same time.
Houston last played in the NBA during the 2004-05 season, when he averaged
11.9 points in just 20 games for the Knicks. In 12 seasons - nine with the
Knicks and three with the Pistons - Houston averaged 17.3 points, 2.9
rebounds and 2.4 assists while hitting 40% of his three-point attempts.

Allan Houston, Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant是我最喜歡的3個球員,
看來要等到其中兩個在一隊是很困難了~_~
好懷念Houston優美的跳投,希望不會又被熱火簽走
p.s.希望上一篇才是真的
