http://www.nypost.com/sports/nets/66915.htm June 2, 2006 -- Sitting seven hours on a plane during a storm delay eventually takes its toll - especially on athletes. University of Memphis freshman Shawne Williams, projected as a late-lottery to late-first-round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, discovered that yesterday when he and the Nets cut short his workout after his back grew stiff and sore. "Being so young and going through this process, I worked out four times this week," said Williams, a 6-9, 225-pound small forward. "But what really happened was I sat on an airplane for seven hours on the runway. . . . I believed I showed them a lot in the time I worked out. That was why I wanted to go. I wanted to go until I couldn't go any more, but I didn't want to hurt myself or hurt my stock by not being 100 percent." Williams, who averaged 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds for Memphis, showed nice athleticism and an upside in his short stint. "We cut it short because of his back. We ask these kids to do numerous workouts and this is what happens," Nets GM Ed Stefanski said. "He's a young kid who just played one year in college. He's got good size and skills, but I would say he is somewhat raw because of inexperience." The Nets, who also worked out 6-8 Slovenian forward Sasa Zagorac, will bring in Washington defensive-specialist guard Bobby Jones on Monday. The Nets pick 22nd and 23rd and want to add size and depth, which was last year's plan as well. But there is a difference. "Last year we had some free agents targeted that we were hoping we'd have a chance to get, so we were concentrating on that," team president Rod Thorn said. "The free-agent market now is not as good as last year, [plus] we've got some of our guys who are free agents. "We've still got to sign guys, but the mindset is different. We still need big guys, we still need some depth, no doubt about it." And the Nets still need to decide on Cliff Robinson, who was banned during the playoffs for violating the league's anti-drug policy. They have until June 30 to pick up his option, which is likely because it can be used in a trade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 有興趣的可以翻譯一下... -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.67.8.245
