Yankees' Teixeira making progress with wrist By TOM WITHERS (AP Sports Writer) | The Associated Press CLEVELAND (AP) -- Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira said he expects to be cleared to begin swinging the bat as he recovers from a wrist injury. Teixeira, one of four New York stars on the disabled list, has been sidelined since early March with a torn sheath in his right wrist. Before the Yankees concluded their rain-shortened series with the Indians, Teixeira said he will be examined Friday in New York by Yankees hand and wrist specialist Dr. Melvin Rosenwasser. Teixeira expects to take ''dry swings'' before the series opener against Baltimore. Teixeira said he is ''getting better every day. There's no pain. I could not be happier with the progress.'' Teixeira, who turned 33 Thursday, said rehab program is on schedule.
