Johnson is best known for hitting the solo homer against the Yankees that tied Game No. 162 of the 2011 regular season that eventually vaulted the Tampa Bay Rays into the playoffs. The Rays had trailed that game 7-0. Johnson, 33, could be a backup infielder in the mode of Eric Chavez, though he doesn't have Chavez' pedigree. In seven big league seasons, the left-handed hitting Johnson is a .237 hitter. He hasn't played more than 40 games in a major league season since 2007 with the A's.
