SWB will send Tim Redding to the mound against Stephen Strasburg on Saturday.
Jason Hirsh gets bumped to the bullpen which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Could mean the organization believes he’s close to helping the big league
team, so they wanted to get him accustomed to a relief role. Did the same
thing is Joba Chamberlain (and other) back in the day.
Also, David Winfree hurt his wrist, but he should be back soon. I didn’t
notice his absence until today, so shame on me. Oh, and the Yankees signed
Rudy Guillen. Yes, that Rudy Guillen. Between him, Redding, and Justin
Christian, it’s starting to look an awful lot like 2005 around here.
Triple-A Scranton
Game One (2-1 win over Syracuse in 7 innings) makeup of an April 16th rain out
Greg Golson, LF: 1 for 3, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 SB
Curtis Granderson, CF: 0 for 2, 1 BB – the walk was intentional … he was
robbed of an extra base hit by Pete Orr of all people … he also smoked one
looks like everything is in line for him to return to the big league team
tomorrow right at the shortstop …
Eduardo Nunez, SS & Jesus Montero, C: both 0 for 3, 1 K
Jon Weber, DH: 0 for 2, 1 BB, 1 K
Chad Huffman, 1B: 2 for 3, 1 R
Reid Gorecki, RF, Reegie Corona, 2B & Matt Cusick, 3B: all 0 for 1 – Gorecki
drew a walk, scored a run & threw a runner out at third … Cusick drove in a
run with a sac fly
Zach McAllister: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HB, 10-2 GB/FB – 47 of
81 pitches were strikes (58%) … finally, some ground outs
Jon Albaladejo: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1-1 GB/FB – just ten of his
24 pitches were strikes (41.7%) … that’s 19 consecutive saves dating back
to last year
Game Two (6-3 loss to Syracuse)
Greg Golson, CF, Reegie Corona, 3B & Eduardo Nunez, SS: all 0 for 3 – Golson
K’ed twice … Corona walked & K’ed … Nunez drove in a run with a sac fly &
K’ed
Jon Weber, DH & Jeff Natale, 2B: both 1 for 2, 1 R – Weber drew a walk
Chad Huffman, LF & P.J. Pilittere, 1B: both 2 for 3 – Huffman scored a run

The Ghost of Kei Igawa: 3 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 4-2 GB/FB – 40 of
65 pitches were strikes (61.5%) … good news: he tied the SWB franchise
record for strikeouts
Kevin Whelan: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 0-1 GB/FB – 17 of his
29 pitches were strikes (58.6%)
Grant Duff: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2-0 GB/FB – 24 of his 41
pitches were strikes (58.5%)
Mark Melancon: 1 IP, zeroes, 1 K, 2-0 GB/FB – ten of his 13 pitches were
strikes (76.9%)
Double-A Trenton’s game was suspended due to rain. I assume they’re going
to complete this one when they play Erie again at the end of June. Hector
Noesi struck out five in three scoreless innings, but the big news is that
Dan Brewer injured himself making a diving catch in the outfield. Not sure
how serious it is, but at least he was able to walk off the field under his
own power. Here’s the box score, if you’re interested.
High-A Tampa (5-2 win over Bradenton)
Jack Rye, RF, Corban Joseph, 2B & Trenton Lockwood, DH: all 1 for 4 – Rye
doubled & scored a run … CoJo drove in a run & K’ed … Lockwood hit a solo
jack & K’ed
Bradley Suttle, 3B & Jose Pirela, SS: both 0 for 3, 1 RBI – Suttle K’ed
Melky Mesa, CF: 2 for 4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB – threw a runner out at the
dish … second jack in three days
Neil Medchill, LF: 0 for 2, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 CS
Mitch Abeita, C: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K
Addison Maruszak, 1B: 1 for 3, 1 SB, 1 HBP
Andrew Brackman: 6 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 7-2 GB/FB – first time all
year he’s walked more than one guy in a start … he’s only walked five guys
in 38 IP this year … don’t look now, but he’s allowed just 13 H in his
last 22.1 IP with 19 K … for what it’s worth, Kevin Goldstein says he’s
been low-90’s this year, touching 94 with bad secondary pitches
Trenton Lare: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 4-1 GB/FB
Phil Bartlewski: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER , 0 BB, 0 K, 2-1 GB/FB
Low-A Charleston (7-5 win over Greenville)
Jimmy Paredes, 2B, Luke Murton, 1B, DeAngelo Mack, LF & Rob Lyerly, 3B: all 1
for 4 – Parades scored a run … Murton doubled & K’ed … Mack scored a run
… Lyerly doubled, scored a run & K’ed
J.R. Murphy, C: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (throwing) – that’s his
second career jack
Zoilo Almonte, RF & Kyle Higashioka, DH: both 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR – Almonte
drove in one run & K’ed … Higashioka drove in a pair
Kelvin Castro, SS: 3 for 4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 CS
Jairo Heredia: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 7-4 GB/FB – is he a
non-prospect yet? maybe not quite yet, but he’s on his way
Ryan Acosta: 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB,1 K, 0-2 GB/FB
Ronny Marte: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 1 HB
Dickie Marquez: 0.2 IP, zeroes, 2-0 GB/FB
Andrew Brackman!!!
