[新聞] AJ wants Doc in New York
AJ 是目前最鼓吹把 Halladay 交易過來的洋基隊員。
他們在TOR同事三年,AJ把 Halladay 當作師傅,他相信
Halladay到洋基一樣能讓年輕投手如 Joba, Hughes
學到很多東西.

A.J. Burnett makes pitch for New York Yankees aquiring

A.J. Burnett escaped Toronto and won a World Series in his first season in
pinstripes. Now he's hoping Roy Halladay can do the same.
Halladay's future continues to be the hottest topic in what has been a silent
hot stove season, with the Yankees and Red Sox preparing to take their best
shot at acquiring the Blue Jays ace.
Burnett, who credited Halladay with helping him become a more consistent
pitcher during their three years as teammates, would love to see the former
Cy Young winner traded to a contender - preferably the Yankees - and get his
opportunity to pitch in the postseason for the first time, something Burnett
finally did this fall.
"I think it's time for him to get a fresh start," Burnett said Monday. "He's
paid his dues there, been the face of the organization, done everything
they've asked him to do and more. At this point in his career, I think he
just wants to win."
Halladay has told the Blue Jays that he would waive his no-trade clause to go
to the Yankees, while the Red Sox, Angels and Phillies are also believed to
be among the preferred destinations for the pitcher.
After playing the first 12 years of his career in Toronto, a move to New York
would be a major change for the 32-year-old, but Burnett - who acknowledged
that the two markets are "completely different" - doesn't think Halladay
would be overwhelmed by the pressure that comes with wearing pinstripes.
"I don't think he would let anything distract him," Burnett said. "He's not
really the type of person that gets intimidated easily. It doesn't matter
where he pitches; he's going to be the same. None of the stuff that goes on
here would faze him at all."
Halladay has never had any issues dealing with media in Toronto, though as
Burnett noted, "He's not really a guy that sits at his locker. He's got
something to do all the time. It's not that he's trying to avoid people, he's
just constantly working and doing something to get better."
That work ethic is one of the things that makes Halladay so desirable. Since
2002, Halladay has thrown at least 220 innings in six of his eight seasons,
the only exceptions coming in 2004, when he had two DL stints with shoulder
soreness and 2005, when a line drive broke his leg on July 8, ending his
season.
Just as Halladay served as a mentor to Burnett during their years together,
his presence could have the same impact on Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes.
"You're going to get a guy you can learn from," Burnett said. "When you're
around him, he encourages you to get better. You watch him make himself
better and it inspires you."
GM Brian Cashman is headed for Tampa on Thursday for two days of meetings
with ownership, as the Yankees finalize their 2010 budget before next week's
winter meetings in Indianapolis, so it's unlikely anything will happen before
then.
Whether the Yankees make a hard push for Halladay could hinge on Andy
Pettitte, who is still deciding whether to pitch next season or retire, since
his departure would leave the rotation thin beyond CC Sabathia and Burnett.
The addition of Halladay would give the Yankees the best 1-2-3 combination in
the majors, though the Red Sox could lay claim to the same if he winds up in
Boston, pitching alongside Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.
