09/11/2007 9:28 PM ET NEW YORK -- Shorstop Derek Jeter returned to the Yankees' lineup Tuesday with a grin on his face, saying that having a day of rest Sunday plus the club's off-day on Monday had quieted his barking right knee, which had proven to be a point of concern during the series at Kansas City. "I haven't done a thing. I'm fine," Jeter said. "Yes, the two days helped." If it's not one thing: Luis Vizcaino was scheduled to return to the Yankees' bullpen on Tuesday after having sat out the weekend series at Kansas City, resting his sore right shoulder. The time off apparently helped Vizcaino's arm, who claimed that his shoulder felt ready to pitch, but the right-hander has apparently come up with a new ailment. Manager Joe Torre said that Vizcaino woke up with stiffness in his lower back and would not throw a side session until Wednesday. "Whatever he feels up to, he'll attempt," Torre said. Vizcaino has appeared in 70 or more games in five of the past six seasons, including this year, when he has pitched in exactly 70 games while going 8-2 with a 4.21 ERA. But his effectiveness fell off in two September appearances, as he allowed five runs while recording three outs against the Devil Rays and Mariners. "Every year, I throw in a lot of games," Vizcaino said. "Sometimes, it happens. You're sore sometimes. I'm ready to go tomorrow." The Yankees bolstered their bullpen further on Tuesday, continuing their September callups by recalling right-handers Matt DeSalvo and Jeff Karstens from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Look who's back: Former Yankee Todd Zeile (2003) visited with Torre, Jeter, Jason Giambi and Mariano Rivera during batting practice. Zeile, now at the helm of the California-based film company Green Diamond Entertainment, said he is in town for this week's Toronto Film Festival. Giambi is an investor in the studio, which produced a 2005 movie, "Dirty Deeds." Bombers bits: Roger Clemens insists that the cortisone injections in his right elbow will help him to get to the mound Sunday at Fenway Park. But just in case they don't, Torre said the Yankees would give that start to Phil Hughes instead of bringing a new pitcher into the rotation. ... Shelley Duncan has been sent back to New York for examination after complaining of lower abdominal pain. Duncan's brother, Chris, may have played his last game this season; the Cardinals outfielder has been "pretty banged up" for about six weeks, according to Shelley, amid reports that Duncan is sidelined with a hernia. ... Right-hander Joba Chamberlain made his Major League debut on Aug. 7 at Toronto, pitching two scoreless innings. This is the first time the 21-year-old reliever has returned to a road Major League park. Coming up: The Yankees and Blue Jays play the second game of their three-game series on Wednesday, with New York sending right-hander Mike Mussina (8-10, 5.51 ERA) to the mound. Toronto counters with right-hander Dustin McGowan (10-8, 3.90), with first pitch from Rogers Centre set for 7:05 p.m. ET. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.116.226.26 ※ 編輯: EIORU 來自: 140.116.226.26 (09/12 10:08)
