Topic: Some believe that the aim of education is to develop the intellectual
and vocational competence of the people. Others think that the purpose of
education should stress moral qualities. Tell which you would rather choose!
Support your answer with specific details.
From kindergarten to university, everyone is educated. Nowadays, our
education puts more stress on academic performance than on moral qualities.
In order to improve people's intellectual and have better competive abilities
in the world, our education seems to care more about the schoolwork and
usually neglect the morals.
Therefore, we gain more and more knowledge and make obvious progress in
science and technology. However, this strategy causes a big problem. Advanced
as our technology is, intellectuals are always lack of morals. Some people do
things without their conscience, such as the fake herbal medicine and the
fake rice wine, only keeping profits in mind and absolutely forgetting the
morals. This will only bring our society chaos, even though we have advanced
technology.
Therefore, when it comes to the purpose of education, I prefer the moral
qualities to the intellectual and vocational competence. I considered the
moral education more important when I once saw a talented student throw
garbage while walking on the street. The lack of social morality will lead to
serious problems, such as our polluted environment, the unhealthy food, the
fake production, and so on. In my opinion, I think our education must put
more emphasis on the moral qualities. After all, all things are based on
morals but not on the intellectual and vocational competence!
