which is the milestone of American history.
B: It was a fight between the north and the south in 1861 to 1865, so called
Civil War.
A: The Civil War was, some said, the greatest failure in American history.
Because too many people, 4 percent of the male population were to die in
the four-year conflict.
B: However, most Americans view their Civil War as something that was noble
and heroic.
A: Why do they think so?
B: If we compare it with World War One, we find that human-being got no
benefit from this war. But at least two great issues were resolved by
American Civil War, that is, the union survived, and the slaves were freed.
A: Oh, I remember the famouse historian Shelby Foote once said, "Before the
war, the United States were an "are," after the war the USA became an "is!"
B: But how did the war start?
A: That is a good question. Now let's welcome three outstanding experts to
answer the question.
B: This is Doctor甲, the professor at Havard University.

Center.
