The Thunderbird Center for Global Entrepreneurship (CGE) has expanded the scope of competitions passed and increased the advantages offered to participating teams, sponsorship partners , and judges. This new i4 model is designed to place Thunderbird at the forefront of global thought leadership in Innovation. The i4 will leverage Thunderbird's 60 years of experience educating global executives to create a new innovation curriculum focused on issues that face global companies and a new global community. The vast Thunderbird network of 35,000 alumni will be invited to participate in this new effort to exchange ideas , learn new methodologies, and increase value through ideation, innovation, and creativity. The CGE is excited to offer each and every participant the opportunity to learn from top global innovators, network and collaborate, develop skills in innovation , and discover careers in innovation. Similarly we are improving upon the value created for our sponsorship partners by holding a career fair and extending access to the pool of world-wide talent attracted to this event. Every member of the i4 community will gain access to a set of web-based global innovation discussion boards and collaboration tools which will provide skills development tools, innovative events directories, networking opportunities, job placement opportunities, and a chance to collaborate with some of the most innovative minds in the world. The i4 Challenge is a robust business competition that focuses on developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges faced by our corporate partners. Participating teams comprised of graduate students from around the globe will be presented with a challenge question via web-based technology. The teams will then be supplied with the necessary background information as well as any supplemental information needed to initiate ideation. The teams will then be expected to develop a comprehensive, innovative and executable strategy to overcome the posed challenge. Each team will submit their initial strategy online for feedback and scoring from a distinguished panel of judges assembled from academia and the business world. The top twelve teams will come to Thunderbird's Glendale, Arizona campus to compete in the final round. Teams will then be posed another round of challenge questions. Teams will present their innovative solutions before a live audience. Following presentations, each team will be judged based on a specific list of criteria and a winner will be announced at the 2006 i4 Awards Banquet . The winning team will receive $20,000. Second place will receive $10,000. Third place will receive $5,000. i4 - November 15-18, 2006 is a four-part event designed to be an action packed week of innovative activities based around the four pillars of innovation and creativity (Inspiration, Ideation, Innovation and Implementation). This year we are introducing an exciting new on-line community called Club Innovate that is sure to be a world-class arena for innovation content and discussion. Q&A: Can I compete if I am a non-MBA student? Yes. You are eligible to participate if you are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree or PHD program. Am I eligible if I am a part-time/executive/online education student? If you are currently pursuing your Master’s studies, you are eligible to participate irrespective of the program you are enrolled in. For more details on eligibility criteria please refer to the Official i4 Rules. How many students are allowed per team? Teams must consist of minimum 4 and maximum 6 members. All members must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program. They may be full-time, part-time, online or executive/professional Master’s degree students or even on an internship or work-study program during their Master’s degree. Do all team members have to be from the same school/program? No. You may form team across programs and schools. In fact, we highly recommend forming teams with diverse backgrounds. However, each member has to be a current Master’s degree student. What are the different types of teams I can form? You can form any one of three different types of the teams. 1. Core Team – All team members are students from same Master’s degree program in same university (For e.g. a team of MBA students from Thunderbird) 2. Cross-Functional Team – Team members are students from different Master’s degree programs but same university (For e.g. a team of 2 MBA students, 2 MS in Computer Science students from MIT) 3. Virtual Team – Team members are students from a Master’s degree program from different universities (For e.g. a team of 2 MS in Computer Science students from MIT and 2 MBA students from Thunderbird) How many teams are allowed from one school? There is no restriction on the number of teams from one school. The i4 contest is open to multiple teams per university. We recommend multiple teams per university as having more teams would increase your school's chances of making it to the final round. What innovation questions should we expect? Challenge questions may require innovative product/service ideas, brand reinvention, or process improvement. Each sponsorship partner will present a unique challenge question based on their most strategic business issues. Teams may rank their sponsor preferences during the registration period and will be considered. When will we receive our question and how? All teams will be able to view their question online on October 8, 2006. Teams will require a valid username and password to access their i4 account to view their question. Who will be forming the i4 Challenge questions? The i4 innovation questions are developed by a panel consisting of executives from sponsoring companies, innovation consultants and the i4 executive board. Are we allowed to contact the sponsoring companies directly? No. You will be provided any and all proprietary company information required to answer your question. This information will be provided via your online account on our website. You will need a valid username and password to view this information. Can we take help from our professors/classmates or others to answer the innovation questions? No. You have signed a confidentiality agreement by which you may not divulge any of our sponsors questions/ strategic information to any outside parties. Disregarding this agreement would be a violation of the contest rules and also unlawful. Your team will be disqualified in such an event. Why do I have to sign a confidentiality agreement? Our sponsors have agreed to provide you with strategic information about the company, its market and future strategy. This information along with the innovation question gives a valuable insight to the sponsor's strategic outlook and future business plans which will assist you in developing an innovative solution to the i4 challenge question. This information should be used only in reference and under the scope of this contest. Any other use of this information is strictly prohibited. The confidentiality agreement ensures that you understand and agree to abide by these conditions. Which schools have signed up for the events? You can see your competitors on our website in the participants section. I forgot my password. What should I do? Please send us an email at innovation@t-bird.edu with your full name, university name and Team ID, if available, and will assist you with resetting your password. Please check with Joel if our platform will allow another way to address this issue where students, judges and sponsors can reset their own password via email. Do I get a refund if I decide to withdraw from the i4 contest? No. Who are the judges for the online round? Judges for the online round will come from various industries, associations and organizations from around the world. All judges will meet our high standards of achievement and contribution in the field of innovation. A few selected judges will also represent the sponsoring company. What is a concept plan? A concept plan is a 2-page summary of your innovative solution to our sponsorship partner’s unique business challenge. It should highlight key discussion points for the following: Concept Introduction, Value Proposition, Benefits, Competitive Advantage, and Implementation. An additional 1-page graphic illustration, which is optional, may be submitted by teams to help judges visualize their idea. What criteria will my plan be judged on? The scorecard resembles closely to the concept plan. Each of the five sections will be judged on two criteria: Concept Introduction, Value Proposition, Benefits, Competitive Advantage, and Implementation. Optional Illustration will not be given a score. Teams may receive a score ranging from 10-100 in each round of judging. Remember, scores will be cumulative for all teams as they proceed to the next round. View the scorecard here. May I compete through more than one team? No. You are allowed to be a member of only one team. What is the judging process? In the online round (Oct. 8-16, 2006), all teams will go through an initial round of judging and each concept plan will be judged by 4-6 individual judges. The top 50% of plans for each sponsorship partner will move on the second round of judging. This time, each plan will be judged by 6-8 individual judges. The top 10 teams for the final round will be selected by ranking the cumulative scores of teams for each sponsor, the highest scoring teams moving forward. At the end of each round of judging, scores will be normalized to level the playing field and reconcile any significant variances. How will I know my results? All teams will be able to view their total cumulative score at the end of the online round as well as scores and feedback from individual judges. Teams will receive an email on Oct. 29, 2006 to announce the top 10 final round teams. Subsequently, teams may log in to their account to view their judging results. i4 Timeline July 1 Early Registration Opens ($100 per team) ________________________________________ September 1 Regular Registration Opens ($150 per team) ________________________________________ October 6 Registration Closes ________________________________________ October 7 - 15 First Round (Online) ________________________________________ October 26 Finalists Announced ________________________________________ November 15 i4 Skills Development and Certification Workshop ________________________________________ November 16 Career Development Workshop and Job Expo ________________________________________ November 17 - 18 i4 Final Round (Presentation, Final Judging, Awards Ceremony at Thunderbird Campus) ________________________________________ For more information, please visit http://i4.thunderbird.edu -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.108.55 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.108.55 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.108.55 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.108.55
