Hellow!! Everyone...... Next Tuesday (4/29) at noon 12:20~13:50( total 100 minutes) in the 7th conference room, we will hold our English seminar. Before participating and discussing the topic of the referential handout, I hope that you do come homework. Only can you let yourself be more involved in this discussion, you will obtain and learn more form these prepaatory process. Now, I list the agenda of our next week's discussion: 1.12:20 Beginning (Please DO NOT BE LATE AND ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE EATEN THE LUNCH ! ) 2.12:20~12:35 Listening Training ( See the attached file and please print it out ) 3.12:35~12:50 Vocabulary Learning Everyone will assigned a pair of words. Your resposibility is to interpret what differences they are( ie: usage, definition....etc. You can check your English-English dictionary to get these resourceses.) In the next week's disscussion, you should set some example or sentences to suppoet your demonstration. The work are assigned as followed: authoritarian/authoritative--Muse avenge/revenge--Rachel blash/flush--Bellring childish/childlike--Casesar classic/classical--Bryan clean/cleanse--Jason 4.12:50~13:10 News article Learning Everyone will be assigned a news essay. You should use the words shown on the material (please don't mind their orders) to make a brief, complete introduction of what the contents are for all of our team members. If you feel you get nervous or forgetful easily, please prepare a rough draft in advance. Also, please speak fluently and employ "EVERY WORD" in your summary. I will make a check list to see if you omit some words and ask Chi-Wei to examine your intonation and pronounciation. The articles are assined as followed: 1.Public-interest lottery--Muse 2.Mainland tourists--Rchel 3.White papers on human rights policy--Bellring 4.The election od the Legislative Yuan--Caesar 5.The movie-The Lord of the Ring--Bryan 6.Grammy Awards--Jason 5.13:10~13:50 Thesis Disscussion--The right to Privacy There are three outlines to discussion. Therefore, I divide you into 3 groups to prepare these questions. Everyone should write down the reasons beforehand and then share your points to all of us. I will ask Chi-Wei to tell us how Americans think aout the subject of privacy. The work are assigned as followed: 1.Do you agree what the witer says" Only when there is justifiable suspicion of a serious crime, a judge should judge authorize the use of secret survellience equipment in an investigation"? Don't you think these actions still are intrusive to your private field? ---Muse & Rachel 2.What are the differences between the Clinton's saga in U.S.A. and the public dfficer's scandle happened in Taiwan? What is your base of foundation to build your judgement? ----Bellring & Caesar 3.Under what circumstances do you think that it is appropriate to use the serect cameras, listing devices and phone tapping equipment? List your reasons or examples to back your opinions--- ------Bryan & Jason At last, I hope you can do your best to prepare your write-up. Do rember the proverb" Practice makes perfect !!". Only by making the best use of each practicing opportunity, you can improve and enhance your English capability.
