1. Please write down the Newton's Three Laws of Motion with brief
interpretation. (10%)
2. (a) Please describe the "time dilation" in the special relativity. (5%)
(b) If possible, try to derive or explain the result as complete as you
can.(5%)
3. (a)Please describe the experiment of the photoelectric effect(光電效應)(5%),
and (b) explain why the photoelectric effect is an example for the light
"treated" as Particle(粒子)(5%). Note that in the classical physics the
light is "treated" as "electromagnetic wave."
4. (a)What is "matter wave"(物質波)in modern physics?(5%)
(b) What is its relation to momentum (p)? (5%)
(c) Please give an example of experiment for the electron, in which it
behaves itself as wave(電磁波).
5. We may call the phenomenon, described in problem 3 and problem 4 as
"duality”, which is different from the concepts for wave and particle in
classic physics. Please try to figure out any influence for such difference
on epistemology(認識論) or the question of how to building up a knowledge
system.(15%)
6. (a) Please try to distinguish the concepts "objective"(客觀的), "ration"(理
性), "science"(科學). (15%)
(b) Do you regard "physics" as an "objective" knowledge system?
