amplitude. A light detector is located at point P at coordinate Xp onthe x
axis. What is the greatest value of Xp at which the detected light is minimum
due to destructive interference? (30%)

2.Light of wavelength 550 nm is incident normally on a diffraction grating.
Twoadjacent maxima occur at angles given by sinθ = 0.2 and sinθ = 0.3.
The forth-order maxima are missing. (40%)
(a) What is the separation between adjacent slits ?
(b) What is the smallest slit width this grating can give ?
(c) For that slit width, what are the largest, second calus of the order
number m of the maxima produced by the grating ?
3.Sally rides in a train moving with constant valocity v relative to a station
and conduct a light pulse experiment. She sendsout a light signal and measure
the time interval when the signal reflacts back, donating the time interval
measured as ΔT0. Sam who stands on thet station platform as the train passes
also observes the same ongoing experiment. The same time interval Sam
measured is ΔT.
(a) Deduce the relation between ΔT0 and ΔT.
(b) What is the conclusion drawn from this observation ?
