Clijsters to miss US Open
Belgian Kim Clijsters seems certain to miss the US Open after having surgery to
remove a cyst on her left wrist.
The world number two, who was 21 last week, has not played since withdrawing fr
om the German Open on 6 May.
Now she has revealed she expects to return at a new WTA tournament in Hasselt,
Belgium, in late September.
The US Open begins at Flushing Meadows in the last week of August, which means
Clijsters is unlikely to play in the last Grand Slam event of the year.
