Wang allowed two runs on just four hits over 7 1/3 innings, earning his first Major League victory. Martinez, John Flaherty and Robinson Cano each contributed a pair of RBIs, as the Yankees won for the fourth time in five games on their homestand. "There's more confidence here," said Flaherty, citing the winning streak. "We have veteran players who know that things will turn around, but until you see the positives, you may not believe it all the way." The Mariners jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Wang, scoring runs in each of the first two innings. The first came when Ichiro Suzuki led off the game with a triple, scoring on an RBI groundout by Randy Winn. Wilson Valdez singled in the second run, and it looked as though it could be a long day for the rookie right-hander. ------------------ But Wang made an adjustment in his mechanics, resulting in better location. He settled in after the second, retiring 10 of 11 batters through the fifth inning. "I don't know what to tell you," said Martinez. "I'm seeing the ball good, getting some good swings in and I'm feeling good." "Let's just keep him going," Torre said. "Right now, he's focused really well." Flaherty doubled in another run to make it 5-2, then Cano, who was just 2-for-23 entering the game, smacked an RBI single to boost the lead to four runs. A throwing error by Adrian Beltre allowed another run to score, capping New York's five-run frame. "We've been swinging the bats well as a team," Martinez said. "We're getting timely hits and guys are having good at-bats."
