Cheeks is a finalist for the position along with Nate McMillan. Karl was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. The Clippers had been monitoring the situation and had preliminary conversations about asking permission to interview Karl. Byron Scott and Alvin Gentry are also considered candidates.
