Rock’n’rollin’ with Mayday at their first Singapore outdoor gig
與五月天在首次新加坡戶外演出一同搖滾!
Rain, damp grounds, and damaged lighting and sound effects did not hinder
Taiwanese rock band Mayday from pulling out all stops to throw their first
successful outdoor gig in Singapore last night
大雨，溼地，及損壞的燈光和音響器材都無法阻止台灣搖滾樂團五月天成功舉行新加坡
首場戶外售票演唱會。
Five-member Taiwanese rock band, Mayday, announced their desires to hold
their first-ever outdoor concert in Singapore whilst performing at the
Singapore Indoor Stadium for their DNA concert world tour last year. They had
their sights set on "the outdoor venue next door" (Singapore National
Stadium), and fervently wished for their "dreams to come true next year."
去年在新加坡室内體育館舉行‘五月天創造DNA巡迴演唱會’ 時，台灣五人搖滾天團五月
天表示希望有機會在新加坡舉行戶外演唱會。當時，五人虎視眈眈的場地就是位於新加坡
室内體育館隔壁的新加坡國家體育場，並迫切希望‘能在明年完成心願’。
Fast forward seven-and-a-half months later today, the quintet put their words
into action, and returned for an encore of their DNA world tour -- at the
Singapore National Stadium -- no less. Now, who says you can't have your cake
and eat it?
七個半月後的今天，五月天再次重返新加坡，並將願望化爲實際行動， 在新加坡國家體育
場舉行《變形DNA 無限放大阪》的DNA五月天世界巡迴演唱會。
The DNA Mayday World Tour [2010 limited edition] was labeled a "rain-or-shine
event" on ticket stubs. Torrential rain and a heavy thunderstorm three hours
before the concert might have flooded the grounds and delayed the schedule by
one hour (due to ongoing repair works of the sound and lighting system), but
it certainly proved to be no dampener with 15,000 concertgoers lapping up the
humidity, muddy grounds, and buzzing flies.
演唱會的票根上註明了這場2010限定版《DNA五月天世界巡迴演唱會》是‘風雨無阻’的
必舉行活動。雖然演唱會預定開場時間三小時前下的大雷雨造成場地淹水，而搶修音響和
燈光器材的工作將實際開場時間延遲了一個小時，但1万5千名觀衆卻無畏濕氣，泥漿路和

Completed with the works -- and by that we mean fireworks, folks -- laser
beams, a 360-degree running stage, and a gigantic yellow
transformer-autobot-lookalike, Mayday kick-started the rock concert with a
rousing medley of fast-paced songs like 'Scream of Spring', 'HOSEE', and
'Liver Explosion', topping it off with a smattering array of pyrotechnics.
這次的演唱會除了有煙火、鐳射燈光效果、360度繞場舞台以外，還增添了一個巨型的變
形金剛。一開場，五月天以‘春天的呐喊’，‘Hosee’，‘爆肝’等快節奏的歌曲引爆
演唱會，並以精彩的爆破效果作爲第一段表演的結尾。
And who else would better know how to work an outdoor concert than Mayday
themselves? After all, what is one outdoor concert in Singapore compared to
the countless gigs these rock gurus had in Taiwan? The wet weather may have
damaged props, stage lightings, and sound effects, but it played no hindrance
to their otherwise stellar performance last night.
說到戶外演唱會，還有誰能比五月天更懂得炒熱氣氛？區區一場新加坡的戶外演出對於在
台灣舉行過無數次演唱會的搖滾天團當然不算什麽。縱然壞天氣對道具，燈光和音響都造
成了破壞，但卻無法阻止五人昨晚的精湛演出。
After the first-half of the concert, things were heating up for the five men,
who appeared drenched in sweat and looked fresh out of the shower, as they
repeatedly mentioned the unbearably "warm weather" in their individual thank
you speeches.
五人在演唱會的前半段剛結束後就已經汗流浹背，看起來像是剛穿著衣服洗澡一般，並在
發表各自的感謝詞時不斷提到讓人無法忍受的悶熱天氣。
The band's drummer, Guan You, half-mockingly jested, "It is so hot I'm
beginning to feel a little regretful."
Although like his fellow peers, the bespectacled-one could not resist talking
about "the roofless venue" and continuously gushed on the "special event" and
its significance to them.
鼓手冠佑還半開玩笑地說：“…其實蠻high的，不過熱到有點後悔。”，但卻跟其他團員
一樣忍不住大談‘沒有屋頂的場地’，並不斷説明這場演唱會對五月天的特殊意義。
After a fair-bit of singing from lead vocalist Ashin, it was the band's
instrumentalists' turn to shine. Stone (lead guitarist), Monster (lead
guitarist), Masa (bass guitarist), and Guan You, each took the spotlight and
displayed their musical prowess with amazing guitar riffs and intense
drumming to the catchy song titled 'Monkey King'.
在主唱阿信的前半段的賣力演唱後，五月天的其他團員也各自展現才華。石頭（吉他手）
，怪獸（吉他手），瑪莎（貝斯手）和冠佑在表演膾炙人口的《孫悟空》時以精彩的吉他
演奏和鼓技呈現各自的音樂造詣。
During a short interlude, Ashin expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards
fans and staff for "this dream come true." He also explained the schedule
delay caused by the rain which flooded the area and "ruined props", but was
otherwise "very happy and very touched."
中場時，阿信對所有歌迷和工作人員表達深切的感激，謝謝大家讓他們的願望成真。此外

Similar to their previous gigs it was no surprise when the group pulled a
fake departure at close to 11pm and made a highly-anticipated return with an
upbeat Taiwanese dialect song, 'Motor Rock', after much screams from ardent
fans in the stadium.
After bopping to their hit-song 'I Am In Love Again', the rock group stayed
on for three more tracks before calling it a night despite promises of
"playing the longest to everyone's satisfaction."
They concluded their first outdoor concert with a bang of confetti strewn in
the air and a smorgasbord of fireworks lighting up the night skies for two
whole minutes.
一如以往的演唱會，五人在將近11點的時候假裝結束演唱會並離開舞台，但卻在歌迷的熱
情呼喚下再度回到台上表演節奏強勁的閩南語歌曲《軋車》。
儘管允諾要一直表演到大家滿足爲止，五月天在表演完《戀愛-ING》之後僅唱了多三首歌
便結束了當晚的演唱會。五月天在新加坡的首場戶外演唱會就在漫天飛舞的碎花紙屑和夜
空綻放了整兩分鐘的璀璨煙火中結束。
As the quintet began to pack up and leave the stage at 11.35pm, relentless
fans and concertgoers stayed in their positions and continued to shout for an
encore performance over the next ten minutes. Fans were in disbelief when
Ashin's voice finally came through the loudspeaker at 11.45pm, officially
ending the three-hour long concert by saying it is "over".
After making history last year with two back-to-back concerts on two nights,
and the past-midnight concert they threw last night, Mayday fans were
certainly expecting more than just an early conclusion to the group's first
large-scale outdoor gig in Singapore
Perhaps the humidity was just too much for them to bear. Though one thing's
for sure, rain or shine, this won't be the last of their many outdoor gigs to
come on our tropical island. Grab your ponchos and fans, we're in for another
ride.
五人在11點35分離開舞台之後，意猶未盡的歌迷留在原地開始大喊安可，期待五人再次上
台。而當阿信的聲音在11點45分從後台宣佈三小時的演唱會已經正式結束時，許多人的臉
上都露出了難以置信的失落表情。
自去年連開兩場超過午夜12點的演唱會之後，五迷顯然沒料到在新加坡的第一次戶外演唱
會竟然那麽早結束。
也許悶熱的天氣真的讓五人難以忍受吧。但肯定的是，無論是晴是雨，這將不會是五月天
在新加坡這個熱帶島國的最後一場戶外演出。請準備好雨衣和扇子，期待五月天的下一場
演出吧。
