I got to say that and get it off my chest.” 未被小牛選上也促使馬龍更有動力、更專注於其NBA生涯。「不得不說，前十年我遇到小牛的比賽都會特別想贏，好想好想幹掉他們。」 Malone went on to become a two-time MVP, 14-time All Star, and the second leading scorer in NBA history. Schrempf played three full seasons in Dallas, starting 22 games, before being traded to Indiana.
