Roddy Beaubois has hit 19-of-60 3-point shots so far (31.7 percent), meaning
almost 40 percent of his shots are from beyond the arc.

Rick Carlisle doesn't mind open 3-pointers. In fact, he encourages them. But
he also knows that Beaubois' best asset is not his ability to fling it from
long range.

Dirk Nowitzki said earlier this week that he thought Beaubois sometimes
settles for the 3-point shot a little too much.

"Anytime he can penetrate, it's a plus for us,'' Carlisle said of the
second-year guard. "Open threes are good shots in our system. But I agree
with Dirk that anytime we get Roddy using his quickness to penetrate and
cause other problems (for the defense), that's a plus.

Beaubois has struggled of late, hitting just 3-of-15 3-pointers in the last
four games.
