Former Mavs forward Mark Aguirre hospitalized; ex-GM says he is stable

Former Mavericks great Mark Aguirre was hospitalized Wednesday with a
circulation problem after falling ill at a Plano athletic club, according to
close friend Frank Zaccanelli.
前小牛明星Mark Aguirre在週三因血液循環問題在Plano athletic club昏倒後送往醫院。
Aguirre, one of the greatest players in the team’s history, apparently had a
clogged vessel while working out on a treadmill, according to Zaccanelli, who
was the Mavericks’ general manager during the 1990s.

“There was no heart attack,’’ Zaccanelli said. “It was a clogged vessel —
not artery, vessel — and while he was working out it just caused him to
black out. There was no cardiac arrest, there was nothing. He fell.’’

Zaccanelli said that Aguirre had a catheterization done at The Medical Center
of Plano and is in stable condition. The hospital released a statement saying
his condition had been upgraded to stable.

“He’s fine,’’ Zaccanelli said. “Basically, they’re going to keep him
here for a few days for observation, but, again, there was no heart attack.

One patron of Life Time Fitness in Plano said that Aguirre was a frequent
visitor and that emergency personnel were at the club quickly after Aguirre
apparently lost consciousness and hit his head when he fell from the
treadmill.

Aguirre, 51, played 7 1/2 seasons for the Mavericks in the 1980s before being
traded to Detroit, where he won two championships. The 6-6 forward was a
three-time All-Star with the Mavericks. He still owns the club’s season
scoring record of 29.5 points per game in 1983-84.

disseminated as quickly as possible to prevent misreporting around the
country.

“I’m sitting right next to him,’’ Zaccanelli said. “He’s not in
