My laboratory is recruiting a motivated Master’s degree student to participate in research activities in bone repair and regeneration. This NIH-funded project aims at using an osteoconductive and mesoporous microsphere to control the release of bone morphogentic protein 2 (BMP2, an osteoinductive substance). Through this unique biocompatible delivery system, we can achieve reduction of the BMP2 dose required for bone regeneration. Eventually this study could lead to the creation of a new class of
clinically safer and highly effective synthetic bone graft substitute for periodontal and craniofacial application. The student involved in this project could have opportunities to expand beyond conventional life science research and explore an interdisciplinary career of biomedical science and engineering.
The prospective student needs to have a good GPA and meets the minimal TOFEL and GRE requirements of Missouri S&T. Effective communication in English and good people skills are desired.
I will be in Taipei from May 17th till June 10th. Students who are interested in this study may discuss with me in person. The student is expected to start in fall 2014.
