What happened to the Marlins' 11-1 start? A look at 5 key questions
Inconsistent starting pitching, slumping lineup remain big concerns

MILWAUKEE - This isn't the way the Florida Marlins drew it up.

From an 11-1 start to losing 14 of their last 20 as they open a three-game
set Tuesday night in Milwaukee, the Marlins' hopes for an engaging,
easy-flowing script already has undergone countless edits and re-writes,
few for the better.

the National League already suffer a seven-game losing streak?

Couple of reasons. The rotation hasn't remain intact. Anibal Sanchez will
miss at least two months with a shoulder sprain. Andrew Miller already
has been out with an oblique issue. Ricky Nolasco has underperformed, and
as well as Josh Johnson and Chris Volstad have pitched, as a group the
starters are averaging just more than 5 2/3 innings and have a 5.10 ERA
over the last 20 games.

Quite the contrary. The 'pen has been mightier so far. An area many
believed would be a weakness has proved a strength as the relief staff can
boast a 3.71 ERA, second in the National League to the Mets (2.89). In
spite of the NL's third-highest workload (106 2/3 innings), the Marlins'
bullpen for the most part has kept the team in games, which is why it has
a major league-best nine relief wins.

3. Can't the Marlins win their share of games by bludgeoning opponents the
way they used to?

Remember, the Marlins this season were built for speed, not power. That
said, they still have guys up and down the lineup who can put the ball in
the seats. They just haven't been doing it. The Marlins rank
second-to-last in slugging (.381), 31 points below the league average,
because guys such as Dan Uggla, Cody Ross and Jeremy Hermida have yet to
find their power stroke. Perhaps more disturbing is how poorly the Marlins
have performed with runners in scoring position. Going 8 for 21 (.381) in
Colorado brought them back to the middle of the pack (.255).

manufacturing more runs?

Because one speedster (Emilio Bonifacio) isn't getting on base enough and
the other (Cameron Maybin) is now in the minors after looking overmatched
the better part of five weeks. Since his 16-for-33 start (.485), Bonifacio
is 17 for his last 99 (.172). The average NL team has a .329 on-base
percentage from their leadoff hitters. The Marlins are second-to-last at
.282.
因為快腿之一的波妞上壘率並不高，而另外一隻腿美兵目前在農場反省中。波妞季
初有段小高潮16 for 33（四成八五），不過最近99打席只有17安（一成七二）。國

5. Sounds like the makings of a downer season. Any reason to believe a
happy ending remains possible?

Sure. The Marlins still have one of the best players in the game in
Hanley Ramirez, who in eight games has raised his average 76 points to
.348. Like last season, Jorge Cantu has been a consistent run producer.
He opened the week one RBI behind Albert Pujols (33) for the NL lead.
Johnson looks more and more like a Cy Young Award candidate every time he
takes the mound. Recent addition Chris Coghlan has all the talent to excel
in the two hole. If Bonifacio gets on and as the five through seven
hitters warm up, the Marlins can make this season a page-turner.
