It’s the right time for me and my family." — John Shea (@JohnSheaHey) September 9, 2015 Before this announcement, Hudson was leaning towards retiring but hadn't made his mind up just yet. His final season hasn't gone the way he might have hoped for, being sidelined because of injury and having an ERA above four for the third time in 17 seasons. Over the course of those 17 seasons, Hudson was a four-time All-Star winning at least 15 games in a season on eight different occasions. His 221 victories are first among active players, although he will be off that list at the end of the season.
