Life in Jeopardy as Broken Bat Hits Boston Fan http://tinyurl.com/oyvex5j BOSTON — A woman was taken to the hospital after a broken bat hit her in the head Friday night at Fenway Park, and the police said she had sustained injuries that threatened her life. The fan was carried out of the ballpark on a stretcher after the top of the second inning during a game between the Oakland Athletics and the Boston Red Sox. She was hit when Oakland’s Brett Lawrie broke his bat on a groundout to second base for the second out of the inning. After the third out, the game was delayed while the fan was tended to in the stands between home plate and the third-base dugout.
