來源：http://tinyurl.com/baajpq2 The Angels released right-hander Hiroyuki Kobayashi a day after Manager Mike Scioscia said the team had not seen the velocity they expected out of the Japanese pitcher. "We had close to three weeks to assess him and did not see a spot for him as we move forward," General Manager Jerry Dipoto said today. Kobayashi gave up two runs in four innings in his three outings. He gave up one run in his inning on Sunday, and Scioscia said afterward that the Angels were expecting more velocity. Kobayashi had been throwing about 86 m.p.h., Scioscia said. "I think he has a little more velocity than what he's shown," said Scioscia, who added that reports on Kobayashi indicated he threw about 90 m.p.h. Kobayashi's splitter impressed the Angels, but they felt he needed more velocity with the fastball to complement the splitter. "The thing about guys that throw the fastball and the split is they are really sensitive to velocity," Scioscia said. "If they are throwing 90-91-92, that’s one thing. If they are throwing 86-87 it just doesn’t give that dimension of that split finger like it can." The Angels also optioned right-hander Steve Geltz to Triple-A Salt Lake City.
