Dusty Baker hospitalized for irregular heartbeat Won't rejoin the Reds until they return home http://0rz.tw/1gqaL https://twitter.com/MLB/status/248645258559229952 CHICAGO - The Cincinnati Reds say manager Dusty Baker was held over Wednesday night at a Chicago hospital because of an irregular heartbeat. Reds trainer Paul Lessard told reporters Wednesday night that Baker will not be in the dugout when the Reds play the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Baker plans to rejoin the club in Cincinnati this weekend. Baker consulted with members of the Cubs medical staff Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field. He was then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where it was announced that he would undergo X-rays to rule out pneumonia. Lessard says there was no evidence of pneumonia, but there was an irregular heartbreak, a condition that Baker has experienced in the past. Reds Public Relations Director Rob Butcher issued a statement following the game that Baker would remain in the hospital overnight for precautionary tests. Butcher's statement said Baker was feeling fine and expects to rejoin the team on Friday when the Reds begin a weekend series against the Dodgers at Great American Ball Park.
