Gonzalez, Nationals Agree To Five-Year Extension Gio Gonzalez and the Nationals have agreed to terms on a contract extension, according to the team's official Twitter feed. The deal runs through 2016, with club options for 2017 and 2018, and comes less than a month after the Nationals sent four prospects to Oakland to acquire Gonzalez. Gonzalez, 26, was eligible for arbitration for the first time as a Super Two this winter. The extension will lock him up for all four of his arb years, plus one season of free agency.
