[農場] MLB.com's Top 50 Prospects:Aaron Hicks
Aaron Hicks, OF Rank: 29
Drafted: 2008, 1st (14)
ETA in Majors: 2014
Statistically speaking: After the first half of his second season in the
Midwest League, Hicks was hitting .256/.378/.403. He turned it on in the
second half, hitting .308/.429/.459.
Scouting report: A young, toolsy outfielder, Hicks started to figure some
things out in the second half of the 2010 season. He's got very good plate
discipline and should hit for average from both sides of the plate in the
future. His power is largely still raw and it's mostly from the right side of
the plate. He's got very good speed that allows him to play an above-average
to plus defensive center field. He also has a plus arm from the outfield. He
should be able to put the speed to more use on the basepaths as he learns the
nuances of that craft.
Upside potential: A five-tool center fielder who can do it all. Even if the
power doesn't come as much, he could be an excellent table-setter atop a
lineup.
They said it: "I remember Aaron, after his freshman year, was getting ready
for a summer game, and he wanted me to hit some balls to him. I just looked at
him and said, 'Here's a kid who just genuinely enjoys this game.' He'd stay
late for his own benefit, bring other guys in to work out ... When you look at
him from a distance, you might see a little big league swagger, but any time
you talk to him, you see he's a humble kid that was raised very well by his
mom and dad, and is very polite." -- Hicks' high school coach, Aaron Hall
He said it: "I've wanted to give back to Wilson, since they helped me
throughout my career. To tell you the truth, I just really loved being there.
I still love being there." -- after donating scoreboard to his high school
