The Reds hope their talismanic skipper will put pen to paper prior to Brendan Rodgers' squad flying to Indonesia for the start of the club's pre-season tour tomorrow. Gerrard, whose current deal expires next June, had been in negotiations over an extension since the end of last season. The new contract will keep the 33-year-old midfielder at Anfield until 2015. Boss Brendan Rodgers had made sorting out his captain's contract situation one of his top priorities this summer. Gerrard enjoyed a fine campaign for the Northern Irishman last term – clocking up 46 appearances before his season was ended by shoulder surgery in May. The England international has since returned to fitness and is ready to play a part in the matches during the tour of Indonesia, Australia and Thailand.
