Numbers detail Bryant's season

LOS ANGELES – A peripheral sports fan was overheard recently saying that he
didn't know anything that happened in the current NBA season except that Kobe
Bryant scored 81 points in one game.
最近無意間聽到一個其他運動類的球迷說，他完全不清楚現在NBA的球季中有什麼新鮮事
，除了，Kobe Bryant在一場比賽內就拿下81分的這件大事。
Bryant's Jan. 22 scoring uprising against Toronto topped all but Wilt
Chamberlain's 100-point game in NBA history and set league records in the
shot-clock era for highest percentage of a team's points (66.4 percent) and a
game's points (35.8).
Bryant在1月22號對上多倫多暴龍的得分大爆炸，讓他在NBA的歷史中在一人之下萬人之上
，只輸給Wilt Chamberlain的百分比賽。而且創下在設立24秒規定之後，佔全隊得分的最
高比例(66.4%)跟佔兩隊得分總和的最高比例(35.8%)的紀錄。
NBA statistical analyst Dean Oliver, a consultant for the Seattle SuperSonics
and author of "Basketball on Paper," noted of the 81-point game: "Kobe's
defensive rating was also among the best on the team.It would take some work
to do a good evaluation, but there is no doubt that Kobe's performance is a
candidate for best individual game in history."

One game does not make a case for NBA MVP, but Bryant is expected to be a top
candidate for the award this season.
一場比賽或許不足夠評定為NBA的MVP，但是Bryant在這個球季絕對會是該獎項的熱門候選
人。
He did not receive a top-five vote from any voter last season (16 other
players did), and his highest finish in MVP voting came in 2003, when he was
third behind Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Bryant also finished 12th in 2000,
ninth in 2001, fifth in 2002 and fifth in 2004.
上個球季，他完全沒有拿到任何一張評審委員投給他的前五名的票(總共有其他16名球員
有拿到)。而他曾拿過最高的MVP票選分數是在2003年，當年他只輸給Tim Duncan跟Kevin

With seven games to go, these are some of Bryant's NBA statistical rankings
(per game): first in points (34.8), first in field goals (12.1), first in
field-goal attempts (27.1), third in free throws (8.15), fifth in free-throw
attempts (10), 11th in three-pointers (2.2), fourth in three-point attempts
(6.3), sixth in minutes (41), 10th in steals (1.8), 15th in free-throw
percentage (85.3), seventh in efficiency rating (27.2) and ninth in turnovers
(3.2).
球季只剩下7場比賽，下面是Bryant在NBA中的數據排名(括弧內為每場平均):得分-第1名

BICKERING COACHES
After Lakers coach Phil Jackson said it was "vindictive" for the Charlotte
Bobcats to cut ex-Laker Kareem Rush so close to the end of the season,
Bobcats coach/general manager Bernie Bickerstaff told the Charlotte Observer
that Jackson "probably forgets he wrote a book for profit so he has no
credibility."
對於夏落特山貓把前湖人球員Kareem Rush，在球季即將結束前夕將他解約的這件事，在
湖人教練Phil Jackson說這是"惡意的"之後，山貓隊的教練兼總管Bernie Bickerstaff告
訴夏洛特Observer報社說，「或許他忘記他曾寫過一本有關獲益的書，所以他說的話沒有
可信度。」(譯按:就是那本uncoachable的書)
Although the Lakers could claim Rush on waivers, they wouldn't want to pay
his $3.24 million contract option for next season. If unclaimed, Rush could
sign a new contract this offseason.
雖然湖人可以簽下Rush，但是他們肯定不會想付他下個球季3百24萬美金的合約。如果現
在沒有簽，那Rush可能就要在球季後簽新的合約了。

比較像是恢復週，這個禮拜我們比較想訂為成長週，試著讓球員們準備好去思考一些，我
們將要在季後賽做的一些新的東西，還有思考一些仍在我們眼前的挑戰。」
