NY Times:Chandler Approaching Historic Pace By BENJAMIN HOFFMAN Studies of N.B.A. statistical records often eliminate Wilt Chamberlain from consideration because he was so dominant, and so far ahead of his time, that his numbers were almost comical. Chandler embraced his role in the team’s offense as strictly an inside presence, and mastered the art of the alley-oop and the put-back, raising his field-goal percentage to 68.2 percent through Friday. Andrew Bynum, the Lakers center, is second in the N.B.A. in field-goal percentage, shooting 58.2 percent, a drop-off of 10 percentage points. The last player to have a margin that large was, of course, Chamberlain in his final season, 1972-73, when he shot 72.7 percent from the floor, 15.7 percentage points ahead of Matt Guokas, who shot 57 percent. In between those seasons, the largest discrepancy was in 1980-81, when Artis Gilmore shot 67 percent and Darryl Dawkins shot 60.7 percent. 主要是比較這季命中率第一的T.C跟第二的湖人隊的Andrew Bynum。 FG% PPG T.C 68% 11.2 A.B 58% 18.0 其他古人的數據與比較我就不翻譯了。 It would be easy to try to discount Chandler’s achievement as a product of his not taking outside shots, especially because he is shooting an unimpressive 69.5 percent from the free-throw line.
