Vlade Divac on Karl: 'He's great but he has to trust me to do my job'

Sacramento Kings vice president Vlade Divac talked to reporters on Thursday
and, naturally, he had to address the ongoing George Karl-DeMarcus Cousins
rift. The highlights, via Cowbell Kingdom's James Ham:
“I respect my coach and I think he's great, but he has to trust me to do my
job.” - Divac on Karl

Divac said he spoke with DeMarcus Cousins 3 or 4 days ago. Told him to stay
away from the gossip.

“I want to believe and we'll see how it goes.” -Divac on whether Cousins
and Karl can coexist

Divac also said that he was the one who made the call to draft Willie
Cauley-Stein with the No. 6 pick, not even telling owner Vivek Ranadive or
Karl until the final moments before the selection was made. Obviously, the
part that stands out is what he said about Karl. Reports already indicated
that Divac was displeased with the coach going behind his back to try to
trade Cousins, and this pretty much confirmed it.
From the sounds of it, Karl will only stay with the Kings if he stays in his
lane rather than trying to influence roster moves. Divac said he wants "to be
in charge of everything." That's the right thing to say, I suppose, but it
still seems far-fetched to think Cousins and Karl can repair their
relationship and work together. I mean, look at what Cousins tweeted today.
