Kyrie Irving, Isaiah Thomas Rookies of the Month
The Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving and the Kings’ Isaiah Thomas were today named the
NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for
games played in February. The award is the second for Irving this season and
the first for Thomas.

Irving led all rookies in scoring (19.3 ppg), free throw percentage (.953) and

apg), three-point field goal percentage (.444) and fourth-quarter scoring (6.8
ppg). He scored 20 or more points in six games in February, shooting .500 or
better four times and notching a season-high 11 assists on Feb. 22, against the
New Orleans Hornets.

Thomas led Western Conference rookies in February in scoring (12.2 ppg) and was
second in assists (4.4 apg). He recorded his first five career starts last
month, scoring 96 total points, enough to match Otis Birdsong’s franchise
record for most points scored in a player’s first five starts, set during the
1970-71 season.

The Miami Heat’s Erik Spoelstra and the San Antonio Spurs’ Gregg Popovich
today were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month,
respectively for games played in February.

Spoelstra guided the Heat to a league-best 11-2 (.846) record and finished the
month on an eight-game winning streak, with all eight wins coming by double
figures. The 11 wins and .846 winning percentage each rank second all-time for
the Heat in the month of February. With three consecutive victories from Feb.
12-14 at Atlanta, Milwaukee and Indiana, the Heat became the first team to win
road games on three straight nights since the Phoenix Suns in 1979.

Popovich led the Spurs to an 11-2 record, tying the Heat for the most wins in
February. Including their last game in January, the Spurs rattled off an
11-game winning streak, including eight straight road victories, placing them
atop the Southwest division. The Spurs had just four home games in February,
winning three, and posted an 8-1 mark away from AT&T Center.
Popovich則帶領馬刺在西區同樣拿下11W-2L，與熱火在2月份的成績一樣。包括他們在1月份

Lawrence Frank, Memphis’ Lionel Hollins, Oklahoma City’s Scott Brooks, Orlando
’s Stan Van Gundy and New York’s Mike D’Antoni.
其他被提名入圍單月最佳教練的還有芝加哥公牛隊的 Tom Thibodeau、底特律的 Lawrence-
