Some of my acquaintances have lost their homes. His features are frozen. His voice is flat. He ran the floor, cut fast and hard, played with energy, played with passion, did most things well except convert his rusty outside shot. The shooters launching hasty, off-balance shots because of increasingly infrequent opportunities in a dribble-penetration, guard-dominant offense. The only way to compete in the interim is to establish a scrappy, defensive identity, play faster and capitalize on easy (transition) opportunities and resist the infectious urge for one-on-one play. Martin and rookie Omri Casspi, in particular, are receivers, dependent upon others to distribute and deliver the ball.
