1) Jeremy Lin felt 'pretty burnt out' after Lakers season, writes about his
offseason thoughts
(silverscreenandroll.com文) By Drew Garrison on Jun 1, 2015,
Jeremy Lin's season with the Los Angeles Lakers didn't go to according to plan,
and the unrestricted free agent opened about how he felt following a
disappointing year with the purple and gold in a personal blog post. Lin
admitted he felt "pretty burnt out" in a season where he tried his hardest
"despite seeing very little fruit." Since taking some time away -- including
doing some fishing in San Diego -- he's found the motivation he needed to get
back to the grind and focus on his offseason training regimen.
Lin was acquired by the Lakers in the summer in a package deal that also sent
Houston's 2015 first-round pick (No. 27) to Los Angeles. The Lakers' hole at
point guard has been an issue over the last few seasons, and Lin was
projected to be the unquestioned starter at the position. Instead, he started
in just 30 games, playing behind both Ronnie Price and Jordan Clarkson
through significant portions of the season.
Here's a small excerpt from his post, including a thank you to his and the
Lakers supporters:
I wanted to take this time to just say a sincere thank you to everyone who
supported me and the Lakers this season. It wasn't an easy season for the
players, coaches or fans, but you guys always stick by my side and I won't
ever forget that!
As for me mentally, I felt pretty burnt out coming out of this past season. I
felt like I gave great effort to play well, play the right way, and maintain
the right perspective despite seeing very little fruit. So when the season
first ended I felt very...lazy. I know it's natural to feel worn out after a
long year, but I was surprised by how drained I felt and how little
excitement I felt to start my off-season training.
Free agency begins on July 1, and Lin might find a healthy market for his
services. The Lakers could still be an option, but his tumultuous season
under head coach Byron Scott makes it feel like an unlikely outcome this
summer.
Check out the entire post he wrote over here, including a shot of him with
his favorite fish he caught while visiting San Diego.
2) Lakers News: Jeremy Lin Felt Burned Out at Season's End
by Alex Torres
(lakeshowlife.com文)
The Lakers are one their way to greener pastures. It’s hard to imagine the
Lakers having another 21 win season, which was the worst in franchise history.
Losing can take a toll on anybody, even a professional athlete. It was not
enjoyable to be a member of the Lakers last season, unless you were Jordan
Clarkson, who ended being the only bright spot Laker fans could brag about.
For everybody else, it was difficult to go into most games knowing you were
going to lose.
Jeremy Lin was a player who struggled to find consistency throughout the year
and admitted that it took a toll physically and mentally. Lin went on his
official blog and said he was burnt out after a difficult season with the
Lakers. (via: Mark Medina, LA Daily News):
“I felt pretty burnt out coming out of this past season,” Lin wrote in a
recent blog post on his website. “I felt like I gave great effort to play
well, play the right way, and maintain the right perspective despite seeing
very little fruit. So when the season first ended I felt very…lazy. I know it
’s natural to feel worn out after a long year, but I was surprised by how
drained I felt and how little excitement I felt to start my off-season
training.”
You can’t blame Lin for feeling burned out. When you lose 61 games, it’s
difficult to remain optimistic about the sport you love. Lin has been in the
NBA for a few years now, but has struggled finding a stable home.
In LA, he didn’t have the best relationship with head coach Byron Scott and
also battled with some injuries throughout the season. It doesn’t look like
the Lakers will be brining him back, but he should be able to bounce back on
his feet.
Lin can be a very good role player for a championship contending team. He
just needs to find the right coach and situation for his talents to be
utilized correctly. Lin’s time with the Lakers was short, but you can’t
question his desire to win and become a better basketball player.
