[心得] 如何寫好Writing Task 2

幾個月前開始準備IELTS時，看到Writing Task 2的文章主題，其實都是社會或國際重大議題，以及幾位前輩提到台灣學生在寫申論時的問題是想不出點子。我開始思索，這的確是台灣教育的盲點。 Task 2的主題從家庭、性別、教育、能源、經濟、全球化、城市、科技發展、地球暖化、氣候變遷等環境議題、交通、傳統與現代等等， IETLS考的或許是英文，但是他也在考一個要去國外念研究所或大學的學生，是否具備基本的獨立思考能力、國際觀與社會關懷。打開任何一個英美澳加的主流媒體的網站，上述這些議題都是很常出現的主題。如果平時關心社會和國際的脈動，自然會累積一定程度的資訊與知識。我認為學習英文是為了獲取和世界溝通的工具，知識就是力量。英文為國際語言，透過它能取得許多第一手資料。昨晚因為美國選舉結果而失望，太焦躁睡不著。就把這幾天整理的新增英文單字量的文章整理上傳。當我們獲得能跟世界溝通的能力，不只是為了找到更好的工作機會，許多的偏見與歧視才能透過提高資訊交流互通而減低，讓我們努力成為一個open-minded的人。在閱讀資訊或新聞時，請試著去反思並提出自己的觀點和想法。因為到國外念書時，擁有自己的觀點至關重要。 The Devil Wears Prada 的原形取材自Vogue雜誌的主編Anna Wintour, 她在牛津演講中，對學生的提點是..... 不要只會Like別人的文章，去鍛鍊自己的思維，去寫出能讓別人Like的觀點。演講影片： https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxlrjalADs8

a. Introduction: TOPIC + SIMPLE ANSWER -paraphrase background statement + thesis statement b. Main paragraph c. Main paragraph Main parts for second and third paragraphs: - Topic sentence + explanations + one example Topic sentence 應該是簡潔的一句，請不要通篇都用complex sentences. d. Conclusion: paraphrase your point in 2 sentences. (NO NEW IDEAS!) 此外，一些重點和網路資源如下： 1. 準備期間做筆記從IELTS的申論題中，學會組織表達自己的觀點，也是很值得的額外收穫。請不要背模板，而應該學會怎麼活用主題相關的關鍵字和佳句。許多寫作書籍都會整理各大主題，請自己做筆記，在寫完考古題或看範文時，把自己、專家的觀點、佳句、collocations, vocabulary, 例子都做成表格。 2. 請參考IELTS-Simon提供的E-book sample http://ielts-simon.com/ielts-help-and-english-pr/ielts-ebook.html 在比較過書籍跟網路後，Simon的寫作真得是教得最好的。 "The ebook is called "Ideas for IELTS Topics".
