Posted Dec 1 2006 3:40PM
NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2006 – Adam Morrison of the Charlotte Bobcats and the
Memphis Grizzlies’ Rudy Gay today were named the Eastern and Western
Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played from
the start of the season (Oct. 31) through November.
Morrison, the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, ranks first among NBA
rookies in scoring (15.3 ppg) and minutes (36.1 mpg), and second in three-point
shooting (.375). Morrison collected six 20-point games, twice scoring 27 points
, currently the high-water mark among NBA rookies. His four double-figure
scoring games to begin his career stands as a Bobcats record.
Gay, the eighth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, recorded seven double-digit
scoring performances including a career-high 23 points in an 89-84 loss to
Dallas on Nov. 18. Gay ranks first among Western Conference rookies in scoring
(8.7 ppg), minutes per game (24.9 mpg), third in rebounding (4.7 rpg) and is
tied for third in steals (.93).
Here is a recap of the month for both Morrison and Gay:

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month were Minnesota’s Craig Smith, New Jersey’s Marcus Williams, Toronto’s Andrea Bargnani and Jorge Garbajosa and Utah’s Paul Millsap.
Building upon its already strong appeal to the nation’s youth and as Official Partner of the NBA, T-Mobile is showcasing the NBA’s youngest players -- the Rookies -- through the NBA’s Rookie program. Highlights include the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge, an All-Star competition between NBA rookies and second-year players, and rookie awards presentations including the T-Mobile Rookie of the Month and T-Mobile Rookie of the Year.
