路透德國杜塞爾多夫電]澳洲和阿根廷周三均在網球世界團體錦標賽(WorldTeamCup)中勝
出，兩隊將在周五對陣，爭奪決賽資格。
休伊特(夏韋特)後來居上，以1-67-67-5擊敗韋爾科克(維基克)，菲利普西斯(菲臘普西斯)
則以4-67-67-5險勝沙爾肯(舒哈爾堅)，幫助澳洲擊敗了荷蘭。
而切拉(伊格拿西奧)和扎巴勒塔(薩巴列達)分別戰勝了斯巴迪亞(史派迪亞)和吉內普里
(RobbyGinepri)，幫助阿根廷淘汰美國。
這樣的結果使澳洲和阿根廷並列藍組首位，雙方將在周五的最後一場小組賽中一決高下，
爭奪進入周六決賽的名額。
紅組的最後一場比賽將於周四進行，並列榜首的德國和智利將爭奪另一個決賽席位。

Determined Hewitt keeps Australia on course for final

DUSSELDORF, Germany (AFP) - Former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt produced
a gritty performance to defeat Dutchman Martin Verkerk on the fourth day of
the 2.1-million-euro ATP world team cup, keeping Australia on course for a
place in the final.
Hewitt, 23, was steamrolled 6-1 by Munich Open finalist Verkerk in an opening
set that lasted just 22 minutes.
However, Hewitt fought back to level the match winning the second set 7-6 (7/2)
in the tie-break.
"It took me time to get into the match," confessed Hewitt. "He was unstoppable
in the first set and I just had to hang in there."
In the decisive set Hewitt, roared on by Belgian girlfiend and tennis World
No. 2 Kim Clijsters, broke to go 6-5 up and held his nerve to serve out for
the match at 7-5.
"I feel good and hopefully can raise my game for the French Open next week,"
added Hewitt.
Mark Philippoussis, 27, has the chance to clinch another point for Australia
in his singles match with Dutchman Sjeng Schalken.
