Watson: I thought we should discuss Hermione… I'm sure you've heard this a
million times but now that you have written the books, do you have a new
perspective on how you relate to Hermione and the relationship you have with
her or had with her?
艾瑪: 我想我們應該來談談妙麗……我肯定一定聽這個（問題）聽過一百萬遍了，不過現
在你已寫完這系列書，那麼對你如何與妙麗聯繫起來，以及你和她之間的關係或曾有的關
係是否有了新的看法呢？
Rowling: I know that Hermione is incredibly recognizable to a lot of readers
and yet you don't see a lot of Hermiones in film or on TV except to be
laughed at. I mean that the intense, clever, in some ways not terribly
self-aware, girl is rarely the heroine and I really wanted her to be the
heroine. She is part of me, although she is not wholly me. I think that is
how I might have appeared to people when I was younger, but that is not
really how I was inside.
羅琳：我知道對非常多的讀者來講妙麗這個人物是極為熟知常見的，但你在電影或電視上
很少看到妙麗這樣的角色出現，除非是作為被取笑的對象。我的意思是，這個熱情聰明，
有些地方不太自知的女孩很少成為主角，而我非常想讓她成為女主角，女英雄。她就是一
部分的我，雖然不是整個的我。我覺得當年我還小時給人的印象估計就是妙麗這樣，但那
真的不是我內在的真正形象。
What I will say is that I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of
wish fulfillment. That's how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have
very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the
plot as I first imagined it, Hermione with Ron.
我將要說的是我（當初）寫榮妙配只是為了完成某種心願，也的確是最初的構思。與文學
創作實在沒多大關係，主要是為了堅持自己最初的構想，讓妙麗和榮恩最後在一起。
Watson: Ah.
艾瑪：啊。
Rowling: I know, I'm sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some
fans, but if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on
that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of
credibility. Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not.
羅琳：我知道，我很抱歉，我都可以聽到某些粉絲聽到這個後的憤怒與不滿。但若讓我百
分之百坦率的話，距離讓我對此有了（新的）看法。（寫成榮妙配）更多是因為很私人的
理由，而不是（這個配對）的可信度。說這話我是不是傷了很多人的心？我希望不會。

Watson: I don't know. I think there are fans out there who know that too and
who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy.
艾瑪：我不知道。我相信有不少粉絲也是這麼想的，也在琢磨榮恩是否能讓妙麗快樂。
Rowling: Yes exactly.
羅琳：對，就是如此。
Watson: And vice versa.
艾瑪：反過來也是（妙麗能否讓榮恩快樂）。
Rowling: It was a young relationship. I think the attraction itself is
plausible but the combative side of it… I'm not sure you could have got over
that in an adult relationship, there was too much fundamental
incompatibility. I can't believe we are saying all of this – this is Potter
heresy!
羅琳：那是年少時的戀情。我覺得（他倆之間的）吸引力看似是合理的，但（他倆）那好
鬥的一面……我不確定你是否可以在成年後的戀情中克服這點，那實在是有太多最根本的
不相容不和諧性了。我真不敢相信我們在說這些——這完全是HP異端論啊！
Watson: I know, it is heresy.
艾瑪：我知道，的確是異端論點。
Rowling: In some ways Hermione and Harry are a better fit, and I'll tell you
something very strange. When I wrote Hallows, I felt this quite strongly when
I had Hermione and Harry together in the tent! I hadn't told [Steven] Kloves
that and when he wrote the script he felt exactly the same thing at exactly
the same point.
羅琳: 從某種程度上說妙麗與哈利更相配，我要告訴你一件非常奇怪的事。我寫死聖（這
部書）的時候，當描寫到妙麗和哈利一起在帳篷裡時，我的哈妙配感覺相當強烈啊！我沒

Watson: This is just so interesting because when I was doing the scene, I
said to David [Heyman]: 「This isn't in the book, she didn't write this.」
I'm not sure I am comfortable insinuating something however subtle it is!
艾瑪：這可太有趣了！因為我在拍這場戲的時候，我對大衛‧葉斯說：「這段不在書裡，
她沒這麼寫。」我不確定給出某些暗示我是否會覺得舒服，哪怕再隱晦也好。

Rowling: Yes, but David and Steve – they felt what I felt when writing it.

Watson: That is so strange.

Rowling: And actually I liked that scene in the film, because it was
articulating something I hadn't said but I had felt. I really liked it and I
thought that it was right. I think you do feel the ghost of what could
havebeen in that scene.
羅琳:事實上我喜歡電影裡這段場景，因為它清楚地表達出了某些我雖然沒說但確實感受到

Watson: It's a really haunting scene. It is funny because it really divided
people. Some people loved that scene and some people really didn't.

一幕，而有些人則極不喜歡。
Rowling: Yes, some people utterly hated it. But that is true of so many
really good scenes in books and films; they evoke that strong
positive/negative feeling. I was fine with it, I liked it.
羅琳: 是啊，有些人極端痛恨這一幕。但對書裡和電影裡很多精彩場景來說都是這樣。它
們激起了強烈的愛憎感。我對此很能接受，我喜歡這種（衝突）。
Watson: I remember really loving shooting those scenes that don't have any
dialogue, where you are just kind of trying to express a moment in time and a
feeling without saying anything. It was just Dan and I spontaneously sort of
trying to convey an idea and it was really fun.
艾瑪：我記得我相當喜歡拍那些沒有台詞，只是努力表現當時此情此景盡在不言中的戲份
。那時就只是丹尼和我即興發揮來表達想法，極為過癮。
Rowling: And you got it perfectly, you got perfectly the sort of mixture of
awkwardness and genuine emotion, because it teeters on the edge of 「What
arewe doing? Oh come on let's do it anyway,」 which I thought was just right
for that time.
羅琳: 而你表現得再好不過了！你完美表現出那種尷尬無措和真情流露的混合情緒，因為
這個就徘徊在「我們在幹嘛？唉算了不管了我們就接著做吧」的邊緣，而我覺得這個在當
時情景下再合適不過了。
Watson: I think it was just the sense that in the moment they needed to be
together and be kids and raise each others morale.
艾瑪: 我覺得這就是在當時他們需要在一起，再做回孩子，來互相鼓勵士氣的感覺。
Rowling: That is just it, you are so right. All this says something very
powerful about the character of Hermione as well. Hermione was the one that
stuck with Harry all the way through that last installment, that very last
part of the adventure. It wasn't Ron, which also says something very powerful
about Ron. He was injured in a way, in his self-esteem, from the start of the
series.He always knew he came second to fourth best, and then he had to make
friends with the hero of it all and that's a hell of a positionto be in,
eternally overshadowed. So Ron had to act out in that way at somepoint.
羅琳: 就是這樣，你說的很對。還有這些都強有力地表現了妙麗這個人物的性格。妙麗才
是那個不離不棄始終伴隨哈利直到最後一步，直到這段冒險旅程終點的那一個。而榮恩不
是，這也同樣強烈表現了榮恩的性格特徵。他在自尊上有某種心理陰影，從整個系列一開
始就是。他一直知道自己最多也就是二線人物【其實我好想在這裡用上屌絲或高級嘍囉的
譯法啊啊啊】，然後還要跟最頂尖的那個英雄交朋友，這是個讓人難忍難堪的位置，永遠
處於別人的陰影之下，被比得黯然失色【其實這兒就是我多嘴想強調，前後兩句是一個意
思】。於是榮恩遲早會那樣表現出來。
*屌絲=G8毛 亦即為魯蛇=loser 相對應的詞是高富帥=溫拿=winner
But Hermione's always there for Harry. I remember you sent me a note after
you read Hallows and before you starting shooting, and said something about
that, because it was Hermione's journey as much as Harry's at the end.
但是妙麗一直在那裡挺哈利。我記得你讀完死聖那部書還沒開拍時給我寫過信，說了些關
於這段的想法，因為到最後，這不僅是哈利的歷程，也同樣是妙麗的歷程。
Watson: I completely agree and the fact that they were true equals and the
fact that she really said goodbye to her family makes it her sacrifice too.
艾瑪：我百分百同意！他倆是完全平等並肩的，還有她向自己的家人道別也是成為了自己
的犧牲。
Rowling: Yes, her sacrifice was massive, completely. A very calculatedact of
bravery. That is not an 「in the moment」 act of bravery where emotion
carries you through, that is a deliberate choice.
羅琳: 是的，她的犧牲著實巨大。非常深思熟慮的勇敢行為。不是那種感情衝動情勢所逼
一下子爆發的勇敢，而是慎重考慮過後的選擇。【我怎麼覺得這段是在和哈爹及莉莉的「

Watson: Exactly.

Rowling: I love Hermione.
羅琳: 我愛妙麗。
Watson: I love her too.
艾瑪: 我也是。
Rowling: Oh, maybe she and Ron will be alright with a bit of counseling, you
know. I wonder what happens at wizard marriage counseling? They'll probablybe
fine. He needs to works on his self-esteem issues and she needs to work on
being a little less critical.
羅琳: 哦，你知道，也許她和榮恩在接受一些諮詢輔導後會沒啥問題的。我在琢磨魔法界
的婚姻諮詢會有些什麼內容？他們估計能搞定的。他需要在自尊心方面努力，而她則要學
習不那麼挑剔好批評人。
Watson: I think it makes sense to me that Ron would make friends with the
most famous wizard in the school because I think life presents to you over
and over again your biggest and most painful fear – until you conquer it. It
just keeps coming up.
艾瑪: 我覺得榮恩在學校裡會和最有名的巫師成為朋友是有道理的。因為生活總是在不停
地讓你面對你心中最大最深的痛苦——直到你克服它為止。不然它只會一次次出現。
Rowling: This is so true, it has happened in my own life. The issue keeps
coming up because you are drawn to it and you are putting yourself infront of
it all the time. At a certain point you have to choose what to do about it
and sometimes conquering it is choosing to say: I don't want that anymore,
I'm going to stop walking up to you because there is nothing there for me.
But yes, you're so right, that's very insightful. Ron's used to playing
second fiddle. I think that's a comfortable role for him, but at a certain
point he has to be his own man, doesn't he?
羅琳: 這點太對了，我自己的生活裡也是這樣。同樣的問題總是反覆出現，因為你本身就
被其吸引，而且你一直在讓自己面對這樣的問題。到最後，你必須做出選擇該如何面對，
有時候要克服陰影就是選擇說出來：我不想再要這個了，我不會再努力接近你，因為我得
不到任何東西。但是沒錯，你說的很對，非常有洞察力。榮恩已經習慣於當老二了。我覺
得這對他而言是個舒服的角色，但總有某天某刻，他必須為自己站起來，是不是？ 【羅
琳你難道是暗戀別人n久得不到回報就算了？】
Watson: Yes, and until he does it is unresolved. It is unfinished business.
So maybe life presented this to him enough times until he had to makea choice
and become the man that Hermione needs.
艾瑪： 是的，直到他這麼做了，否則一直都不會得到解決。懸而無果。因此也許人生一
直讓他面對這樣的情況，直到他最終做出選擇，然後成為妙麗需要的男人。
Rowling: Just like her creator, she has a real weakness for a funny man.These
uptight girls, they do like them funny.
羅琳: 就像她的創造者一樣，她抵擋不住一個有幽默有趣的男人。這些神經緊張的姑娘們
，她們真的喜歡幽默有趣的男人。【鬧了半天，羅恩的最大優點原來是插科打諢】
*所以最終決戰派不上用場，才給他塞了一堆亂七八糟的外掛……
Watson: They do like them funny, they need them funny.
艾瑪: 她們著實喜歡他們有趣，她們需要他們有趣。
Rowling: It's such arelief from being so intense yourself – you need someone
who takes life, or appears to take life, a little more light heartedly.
羅琳: 這可以讓你從已經過分緊張的自我中解脫出來——你需要某個能用更輕鬆的態度看
待生活，或看起來是這樣的人在你身邊。
Watson: Definitely so important. Thank you so much for doing this.
艾瑪：絕對非常重要。多謝你接受採訪。

實際上in some ways = somehow = 不知怎麼地
所以那句話實際上是
羅琳：（雖然我是個榮妙，但不知怎麼地，）某方面來說哈妙更適合一點。

即使不成為他們家的一員 我相信他們也能夠相處的很好
常常聽到人家說 哈利跟妙麗在一起 英雄配美女 太過狗血俗氣
（先不說哈利 妙麗一直都不是美女 她跟Emma是兩回事……）
就很想問 難道全部人最後都加入衛斯理家就不狗血嗎？
到最後連泰迪都硬是要被塞進去 這種配法比青山的青梅竹馬複製人還狗血……
