Store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with
verbal abuse," the Stillwater city manager said. "There has been one threat of
violence using a firearm."
Stillwater市長Will Joyce在之前宣佈緊急命令5/1起在店裡的顧客必須戴口罩，然後實
施不到24小時 (其實是當天下午)就改變命令。
The mayor of an Oklahoma city amended an emergency declaration requiring custo
mers to wear face masks while inside businesses after store employees were thr
eatened with violence.
Stillwater Mayor Will Joyce announced the change Friday afternoon, less than 2
4 hours after the declaration took effect.
該市執行長Norman McNicle在聲明稿中指出，5/1起要求顧客進入店裡或餐廳必須戴口罩/

“In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been re
quired for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened
with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse," City Manager Norman M
cNickle said in a statement. "In addition, there has been one threat of violen
ce using a firearm."
市長Joyce 接著在推特說明為何取消，他說他預期會有反對的聲浪，但沒想到店員會遭受
如此待遇，市政府這也一直受到威脅性電話。他接著跟這些商店及店員道歉，也說不是跟
子彈低頭，但不願意有人因他陷入如危險的情況。
Joyce said in a series of tweets that he expected some pushback on requiring f
ace masks but did not think there would be physical confrontations with employ
ees and threatening phone calls to City Hall.
"I hate that our businesses and their employees had to deal with abuse today,
and I apologize for putting them in that position," the mayor wrote.
"I am not the kind of person who backs down from bullies, but I also will not
send someone else to fight the battle for me," he added in a second tweet.
所以現在店員仍必須戴口罩但顧客改成則"強烈建議"。市長同時批評那些威脅店員的市民
是可恥的，連為這社區大眾做點簡單的事來保護大家都做不到。身為一個美國人，不單單

Joyce said face masks are still required for store employees and are now "stro
ngly recommended" for customers.
"To the people who resort to threats and intimidation when asked to take a sim
ple step to protect your community: shame on you. Our freedom as Americans com
es with responsibilities, too," the mayor tweeted. "We must find common ground
and work together to deal with the circumstances our society is facing. Wheth
er or not we agree on the details, we have to find ways to cooperate in the ta
sk before us."
市執行長說很多人反對口罩/遮口鼻命令，是因為他們認為這是違憲且以法無據的，所以
侵犯各人人權。但他認為不能這樣就陷他人於險境中。市長也指出明明戴口罩就是 CDC跟
州衛生當局都建議的，也說這樣能防止疫情擴散。
McNickle said that many of the people who objected to wearing the masks have "
the mistaken belief the requirement is unconstitutional." He said it's upsetti
ng that while people have the right to exercise their beliefs, they are also p
utting others at risk. The city manager pointed out that face masks and coveri
ngs are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the
state's health department to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
"小小的不便就能保護到雙方，但很不幸的這些自私的人卻連對周遭的人表示一點尊重跟
善意都不肯"市執行長悲痛的譴責這群人。他也補充到"各商店仍然可以要求顧客進入前必
須戴口罩或用布遮住口鼻"。
The wearing of face coverings is little inconvenience to protect both the wear
er and anyone with whom they have contact," McNickle said, condemning those wh
o threatened violence. "It is unfortunate and distressing that those who refus
e and threaten violence are so self-absorbed as to not follow what is a simple
show of respect and kindness to others. He said businesses still have the rig
ht to require customers to wear a face mask or covering to enter.

其實看到這篇新聞我也很訝異，看來除非聯邦政府強烈下令全面戴口罩(天方夜譚)，不然
美國各州風氣差異太大，有些州執行起來相對容易，但很多州一定會有如此現象產生。地
方強制下令都如此下場了，更何況建議的，沒幾個人會理。

老美警察一般不是都先觀望看看，除非上層要求強制執行再執法，昨天紐約州也有人聚在
一塊抗議，也沒戴口罩，違法社交距離，警察待在警車內毫無作為。

所以只能說無奈啊，畢竟很多事聯邦政府單純建議，你地方要執行就有難度，我想他有他
考量在，反正我對美國疫情已經不抱希望了。
加州那個是太多人太超過了，抓些人交代順便示警。而且我以為加州人算比較願意接受改
變的了，但之前不也傳出有警長直接先說不想執行州長命令的。
