[心得] 美國第 5 年上班族. 2 戰 327. 感謝 ChatGPT 等網路資源～

【身份背景】2003 年 NTUCSIE 大學部畢業. 上次上學是 2011 年.
美國第 5 年上班族. 但是平常主要在華人圈.
閱讀英文文學覺得吃力.
自覺只有 TOEFL 的單字的程度.
【準備時間】8 月底到 9 月底 (大致上 1 個月)
【為什麼想要考GRE？】
這次是想要再次申請博班. 其中有一個系在 7 月時的網頁寫到
"optional, but highly recommended". 所以就又開始準備.
(最近再看這個系的網頁, 發現只剩下 "optional" XD)
【準備方式】
1. 本板精華區. 雖然大致上是 2014 年的資訊. 但是有些 link 還有效.
並且感受到 GRE 的字彙範圍大致上跟 2014 年差不多～
本著感謝本板精華區. 所以有這篇的出現.

傳說中的"再要你命3000"有人放上 github 囉 XD.
3. vocabulary.com
非常好的學習英文的地方.
主要是有非常多在報章雜誌上找到的例句來知道使用的 context.
甚至有分門別類的 k-12 的小朋友們應該要知道的單字集.
(12 年級也就是高中畢業的人應該要知道的單字集)
和 SAT / TOEFL / GRE 的單字集.
另外還有他們自己出的小測驗. 也很有幫助.
我也幫忙整理了把"再要你命3000"放上去這個網站～
"再要你命3000"對照這個網站看非常有效～
尤其是"再要你命3000"的有些翻譯有點過於簡化或是不夠到位
(大概有 10~15% 的字是如此～)
配合這個網站看, 會對於這些字的 context/用法比較全面的理解～

4. ChatGPT
這個年代使用 ChatGPT 對於 GRE 這種考試非常有效！～
主要是對於作文部分.
基本上是
essay with 350 words for/supporting/against the following issue:
然後把題庫打上. 大致上就可以得到很多範文/理由/例子.
重點是在於根據這些範文製作出屬於你的 template.
大概這樣子花個 2-3 天弄個 15-20 篇應該就會很有心得.
而單字部份.
我大致上會利用以下方式:
10 examples for the word: xxx
translate to Traditional Chinese.
如果變成簡體的話.
可以再打一次 translate to Traditional Chinese.
對於這個單字所使用的 context 很有幫助.
5. Official Guide Verbal Reasoning 那本.
有多交錢給 ET$ 買整套 Power Book.
不過主要是 focus 在 Verbal Reasoning 部分.
事後覺得第 2 本的整本 Verbal Reasoning 大致上還算有用.
主要是幫助熟悉 GRE 出題的方式.
【心得感想】
一開始只是想要 Q 過個 168～
但是跟朋友聊天時, 被強者我朋友說: "你一定碾壓 GRE 了吧"～
覺得似乎 V 和 A 應該要好好準備一下～
我從 2003 年就開始在考 GRE XD
那個還在 800 分的年代～
那個年代我從來都沒有超過 450 XD
也一直很排斥那個年代所謂的"機經".
而那個年代的"再要你命3000".
我也一直覺得很難嚥下～
經過了 20 年後的現在～
有感覺到這個年代有著許多"legal"的準備方式～
所以一開始就有想要知道使用這個年代的準備方式可以進步幾分～
有發現到所謂的 GRE 字彙其實也就是英文文學的常用字～
大家耳熟能詳的 Harry Potter 裡其實就有許多 GRE 字彙～
加上找到 vocabulary.com 這個有提供單字的 context 的網站.
如此也比較有動機把"再要你命3000"好好準備～
這次我是第一次先花 15 天. 每天 200 個字這樣子查/理解/背.
第二次就每天 300~400 個字. 並且配合著 OG 做題.
然後第二次看完 M 開頭就時間到去考試了～
至於 GRE 考試本身～
經過這 20 年來的轉變～
深深覺得大致上已經失去了原本的目的～
尤其是 Q 竟然變成是我們那個年代的高中聯考/大學聯考
那種刁鑽/寫不完的出題方式.
在這個電腦盛行, 更強調數學背後原理的年代～
把大家當成計算機的考試. 是覺得很沒有意義～
不過可能也是老了～
Q 真的比不上各位 2x 歲的小朋友們～
