(May 19, 2009) — Harvard Business School (HBS) announced today that it will accept GRE® General Test scores for admission into all of its business school programs. In March, the business school began accepting GRE scores for admission into its 2+2 Program. Today’s announcement by Harvard Business School follows a steady stream of business schools signing on to accept GRE scores, for a total that now exceeds 220 MBA programs. This is an increase from the GRE Program’s announcement last month that more than 190 business schools, including five of the top 10 global MBA programs, now accepted the GRE test. "We are pleased to widen our requirements to give all MBA candidates the option of submitting results from either the GRE or GMAT® exam," said Deirdre Leopold, HBS Managing Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, in a release issued this morning. "Since many HBS applicants are also considering graduate programs besides the MBA, there is now no need for them to take the GMAT if they have already taken the GRE. We believe that both the GMAT and the GRE meet our expectations of what a standardized test can tell us about a candidate's ability to thrive in our MBA Program."
